Is anyone able to change the circuit detail level for Bahrain? No matter what setting I use, I get everything...grandstands, signs, buildings. Brings my fps to a screaching hault

Brings my fps down to 39.

Flow,

My situation is more of a hesitation (lag) with the graphics. Just not smooth. All of the track lines look like a series of short white dashes rather than smooth flowing (sorry Flow, no pun intended) lines.
I downloaded a new graphics driver and reloaded track pack 6...just in case. No effect.

First time I have ever had this problem with a track.

try turning other things down Ech, shadows, number of visible vehicles, etc, special effects is a big fps hit too, i always set that and shadows, vehicle lighting to low, then again with my "new" 9800XT, i don't need to set things to low, hehehe

Already there. Low everything except cockpit detail and other player car detilas set to medium. Problem is, I can not turn off the buildings and such. The circuit detail level setting has NO effect.

I am running a P4 2.6gig with a meg of RAM. Card is an NVIDIA FX 5200.

How is mom?

mom is much better today, was a total motor mouth the whole time i visited tonight, lol, very good sign, and the neurologist says she is a great candidate for rehab, so i'm resting much easier

Ech, not to sound mean, but your vid card is NOT very good, if ya have a lil spare cash, you might wanna invest in a better card m8, at least a radeon 9600 pro, or fx 5700 ultra Nvidia based card, your frame rates will improve dramatically, even with my crappy 5600 ultra on my old machine i get around 60 - 70 fps, the rest of your system specs are fine, also, go into your driver settings and set everything to performance instead of quality, see if that helps

here's a screenshot i just took, and i have circuit detail, my car detail, and image quality set to FULL, check the fps in the upper rt hand corner :D

I don't know if it's part of the track files or the game itself, but since this is a beta track, it's possible that the developer did not implement the LOD (Level Of Detail) yet. It is to polygons what mipmapping is to textures (i.e. draw less polygons on farther objects). If there's only 1 LOD implemented, it makes sens that changing the settings won't have much effects (except for "effects" generated by the video card, like reflections or shadow)...

Well Echo as i read your problem, i have same as you. Except its harder for me to explain it correctly in english, you got it better than me...hehe.

What Steve explain seem a good reason. All my graphics are at low or almost, and my computer is worst than your...lol

P4, 1.6Ghz, 512mg, NVDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400

So Steve maybe have reason.

Yeah the XT rocks man. I just turned everything to full and went to test day and got 155fps in the pits. Now if I throw a P4 3.4Ghz, 1MB Cache, 800Mhz FSB in this thing, I'll be really smokin. Just out of curiosity, what times are you guys doing so far? I did 5 laps last night, and I just did another 25. I got down to a 1:33.8, but I think I can get another second or two off that time.

See ya soon,

Well, I loaded an NVIDIA 5700 ultra with the most current drivers and now my entire world is screwed up. Frame rate doubled but I have Z clipping everywhere. Sometimes graphics are there, sometimes they are not. I am really unhappy. There is this white flashing that continually occurs.

AAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGG

At least my 5200 did not do that kind of crap.

yo Ech, try older drivers m8, the newer ones are optimized for the new cards, 44.03's are pretty good for the FX series

Gooooood Loooord - this is what I get for trying to keep up with the Jones's (And everyone else for that matter).

I want to thank Cart and Steve for all of the ATI help. (By the way - Do any of you realize how humbling it is to work professionally as a engineer and have to seek PC advice from a 16 year old?)

I am now running with a 9800 radion and life is good. When in doubt...stand back and through money at it!!!!! JUST LIKE THE REAL F1 GUYS!!!!
