Japan race result (post your resume in public)

Post by Flow »

1 Andry
2 Bilbo
3 William
4 Flow
5 Echoshill

Dam i screw my car at lap 20, then i try to reatch the end, mistake in pit, had to do one more cause was missing 4 lap of gas in my car to reatch the end. In the last lap, i went out of track and let Aaron fly with the 3rd place.... Good race between Bilbo and Andry the finish side by side i think.

Sorry to the Honda (Koma i think) who i tryed to let pss in 1st lap after the S section, but i think it just destabilized you and you went off the track. My intention was letting you pass, thats why i went outside the curve... )

Good work to Echo, who finish is 1st race!!!

After losing wings 3 different times in the first half of the race I 'm happy I was able to keep it on track for the second half. And it's nice to finish a race something I haven't done in a while.

After a poor qualifying run that still placed my 2nd on the grid, I managed to take 1st position right after the start. Unfortunately, not liking to run by myself, I managed to spin at the hairpin, fortunately doing no damage to the car.

After that, it was just a matter of catching up with the pack that had passed me and the leaders, it seems like I was faster than most, which is not something I'm used to... I had decided on a 3 pitstops strategy and it seemed like Andri was stopping only twice. After his last pit stop (where I passed him), I was gaining roughly a half to a full second each lap and I was about 18 secs in front before my own last pitstop, from which I emerged about 3 seconds behind. After closing up to Andri, I hit him at the chicane after I had lost control of my car. Making sure he was OK (if he had pitted, I would haved pitted with him and waited for him to come out as the accident was my fault), I managed to hold up to him and the photo finish is the result. If the start/finish line had been just a little farther down the straight, I would probably have won...

Overall, a very pleasing race with a nice result. Thanks to all those who let me pass cleanly especially since it's usually the other way around...

Congrats to Echoshill who managed to finish his first NAR race. He could be next year's championship winner if he continues this way! :P

I have made a video (24MB) of the last lap. NOTE: It has no sound, sorry.

You can get it HERE for a few days before I take down the server. Just right-click the file and select "Save As", otherwise it will try to play it immediately without saving (which is not a very good idea).

It requires the XVid codec, which can be obtained HERE.

well...what a start and all the mistakes by others put me in the lead after flow made his pitstop.I was more than a little stunned but was having disconnect problems throughout the race. After about 15 laps things were running smoothly until i had some stuttering and then 2 lasp later while passing echoshill.I thought i did a clean pass but after seeing a jag wing one lap later...knew that I must have clipped him ...sorry echo..you had a decent run going till then...after the pitstop i made i saw andri about 16 seconds behind and then about lap 25 or 26 more stuttering started and one second later found myself on the curb doing 160 miles an hour...and over into the sand i went...finally hitting the wall and losing my front wing.I figured that the stuttering would only hamper my remaining drive time so i opted out of the game .congrats to bilbo for rockin the whole race along with andri...a fine drive by both the mclaren and the renault.Flow should be recommended as well as he was pullling away from me although i started skating on my tires about lap 16...thinking maybe i should have done a 3 stopper then..LOL...and wouldn't have endangered my run so bad...but i saw andri keeping the time even and just kept throwing caution to the wind. Was a great race for the leaders and definitely worth the run.I checked my replay and it looks like a bit of lag made me clip echo...i was not happy with myself for that...sorry for steve though as he fell farther behind bilbo in points a bit...i think its direct x 9c m8...i went back to 9b and all my problems stopped...but..i had to reboot to do it...i don't know if you want to do that though...curse microsoft for screwing with direct x again.radeon cards seem to be effected the most though as my other computer with the geforce 3 has no problems with directx 9c....i think we should just shoot bill gates and get it over with...oh and congrats to bilbo and andri for such a close finish..well worth the drive guys...

Well Carrera when i was seing that i was slightly taking advantage on you, meter by meter. Then i realized you were on a 2 stop race, whouhou i got nervous then... So i tryed to push more to get enought gap between, but i push to hard in one curve and cost me 2 wings and back damage suspension. You said it at the start MOVE YOUR ASS, hehe its what i did, next time dont put challenge me like that...lolo :P

Hey we shoud decern something to Koma, he didnt finish alot of race but after all, hes not discouraging himself and hes still racing like if it is is 1st, keep going man, chance will turn your side!!!

Well,

Thanks guys. First win with N.A.R tonight. That was cool. No big crash, and no beak failure. At start, there was laggy. The carrera's car appeared and disapeared in front of me, so I just let him to go ahead. I knew race was long, so I just tried to keep the car in the track. I made a good race setup for japan (not fast setup) to allow me to finish the race. But, when Bilbo caught up with me, I just had to push, and push and push again. At this time, I really needed a fast setup. Lol!!!! Because I knew, he was faster than me at the first and last sectors. When I passed the finish line and I won the race, I just said "ouffff". Lol!!!. This was a really good race for everybody I think. 5 drivers finished 100% of race is very very good.

Cya on the track guys.

I see alot of people talking about lag. I didn't have any lag at all through about 90% of the race. I remember thinking that it was a relief. I did get some lag from echo at the end but it was more like a system stutter or something because there was no lag between me and flow at the end.

Hehe, I have made the whole replay (VCR, 17MB) available from the same page as the video (see earlier post), if anyone wants it. I don't know why I just didn't do that in the first place...

Make sure to right-click and save this file if you decide to get it!

awww man...i think i know the reason for my lagging last race.I had my graphics cranked to the max...and i mean...the max...which is a mistake as we found out earlier in testing this year...after reformatting and reinstalling f1 challenge..I just cranked everything up for single player to test and forgot to crank it down before race time...so it makes sense that even with a 1.4 megabit connection the information was still to much to pass between connected computers...I intend to have this remedied before next race of course...sux though...couldn't figure out why it was so laggy that race ....a reminder to all...keep the graphics down while racing online to pass as little info thru internet as possible...
