Man! That was fun. Too bad my engine blew.

Made a couple of big mistakes that I was lucky to recover from; I wish I would have kept my nose cleaner, but I guess it would have been a DNF either way.

Thanks for the fun, and Hitman and Aaron - that was a lot of fun dicing with you guys.

Where can a guy get the Monaco track? :)

A bit of advice Spank, set your radiator at at LEAST 4 for your race setup, and drop the revs down to about 19450, that should be fine. Monaco should be available at the site when steve b has it ready to go

Weuheuu, Qualif 5th, i spun on my warmup lap, and took out all of my concentration.

I had to fight my way to front, and it was not easy. Juan, after few laps, went able to pass me, and untill i lost him many many laps later, i was right in his ass all the time, witch was probably not easy for him  . Brad pit before me, think he was on 3 stop, and i was on 2. went able to take advantage of some of his mistake and i got away. But, suprise came from Bilbo, he was in my ass all that time, and i didnt notice, was fighting too mutch with Juan. He even took the lead (1st) over me for few laps, untill he badly hit a wall with 4 sec in front, witch i was fighting hard to catch him. Too bad the win slip from you hand like that.

My worst nightmare tonight was Brad. with 24laps to go, he was +33 sec. Came down to 10laps to go, with +11sec behind, and he was pushing like hell. I was so afraid to have to fight with him in the 2 last laps, i think i wouldnt survive. But what a relief when Brad did mistake that brought him back to +11sec with 4 laps to go (aprox.). I finaly win the race with him at aprox. +4sec behind.

Congratuation, Hitman finished his 1st race of season, and on the podium. Cong to all other driver. A special cong to Spanky, who manage to do at least half of race on his 1st race in NAR. You didnt break the record hold by Rc, 1 meter on his 1st race (stalled on grid, that must of beed painfull).

Good luck at monaco, cause we will all need some.

Untill he get full acess to private, i sent him the direct link of the track. About Rad, practice race session. I had rad at 3, and rev at 19700, and boost at 7. But your gearing and the way you driver will make alot of difference. Better to safer and driver to the end.

BTW Lipmindog said just before the race that he is investigating a problem with the downshifts and engine braking in the mod, which might explain why some driving styles are more prone to blowing engines. While realistic, the problem is possibly exaggerated in the mod vs real life.

Well I'm pretty devastated. Engine let go with 10 laps to go. This just put the final nail in the coffin points wise. The only good thing I can say is a had some of the best racing ever with spanky tonight. I would say he earned as much trust as I have for anyone here. Sorry for pushing you so hard m8 but it was a pretty good fight.

My race was in 3 different parts. At first, I got a pretty decent start and already had taken a couple of positions. I tried to be cautious in the first few laps but I did make a few inconsequential spins. I found myself behind Juan and Flow who were having quite a battle just a few seconds in front of me. After a while, they hit each other at the end of the "back" straight and I could pass them both. A few laps later, they catched up to me and, thinking they were much faster than me and lacking self-confidence, I let both pass as if I was being lapped. I figured there was no point holding up drivers much faster than me. Am I a nice guy or what...

Anyways, soon after I realized I was keeping up with them, Juan missed a turn and I was behind Flow and holding the gap relatively consistent. After a few more laps, Flow went to pit, looking as if he was on a 3-stop strategy, which was good for me since I was on a 2-stopper. So I ended up in front for a few laps, until my own stop which I came out of with roughly the same 4-5 seconds gap we had before we pitted (which was quite a good news since Flow is usually much faster than me). For some reason, Brad disappeared from P1 and Flow spun in the new section, handing me the lead for a few laps, until I touched the grass in the Renault turn (T3, long fast right-hander) and broke my rear wing and bent the suspension.

That was the beginning of the end, as I spent 3 minutes limping back to the pits then another 5 minutes(!!!!) getting the car repaired. Of course, my partner came into the pits during my repairs, only to find the team exclusively working on my car so he had to go around and come back a lap later. Fortunately, he managed to make it and the team let me go in the meantime so he could finally get his scheduled maintenance. (sorry about that, nothing I could do). After all this, I was 9th and 5 laps down so I figured I'd take it relatively easy, make it to the end and hope to scavenge some points from the wrecks. That was going relatively well until lap 54 when I went out of the last turn a bit wide and was thrown in the wall, breaking the rear wing again. Some quick maths told me that I couldn't hope to finish inside 90% after that so I just gave the car to the marshalls and left to cry in some trackside bushes...

Strangely, as far as i know, no contact occur between me and Juan, or at least i didnt feel it. I was watching Juan in my mirror and lost my braking point, brake too hard, slip, and I THINK that Juan spun like a mirror effect on me  disturb by my spinning. If we contact, it was not the cause of the accident.

Only Brad tap me in the back when i pit out in front, and after T1 he did the inside and i lost him on my side and i was on cold tire and couldnt accelerate mutch as i could, he was 2 laps to pit in, all went fine, nothing hapend. From there i got yellow damage on back wing. That was a close one, 8)

Paul, i think that the luck is not on your side. Sorry for you.

Hello All
Con grates to Flow and Brad fine race
And to all who finished.

Well For me I finally Finished one Yea Babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.....
My Qual well not sure I had a peddle problem my Brake peddle was stuck.
ahh long story.
In any case was last on the grid but I got a good jump and gain a few position I think I came out of the first turn in 7th or 8th.
Then it was a fight with one or the other for most of the race there was only a few laps that I was alone and not trying to save my position or gain one.
Me and Spanky had a few great laps (Hats off to you Spanky you are going to be someone to contend with) it is nice to have a team mate and dam he is faster then me I might have to give him the number one seat.
Sorry you lost your engine
Then me and SteveB fought it out until he Pitted then it was me and Brad (Who I thought was Paul) but me and where wheel to wheel and even playing bumper cars at a couple of turns I new I was slower but I was not going down with out a fight. If you are going to take my position you need to work for it. :D And that he did.
Then I made a few mistakes and SteveB was back again for another round of fighting Dam it was great fun and made this race great.
Thanks guys for the fight.

CU at the junk yard Monaco

Hitman 8)
I might not be fast, But I am ahead of you.

that was a love tap 8) an interesting race for me! got a good start from pole, tried to put my head down and run my pace. flow got into second on the first lap, then bilbo. at this point, i just put my head down and tried to pump out the laps. lap 18, ive got about 30seconds on flow, going through the chicane before the back straight, im calculating the gap to flow and if i can get out infront of him, when i spin and hit the wall, loosing the front wing and bending the front left suspension a bit. after limping back to the pits, and a 77 second pit stop, im back out in 8th. i thought about filling up the tank and seeing if i could make it to the end from lap 18, but i dont think so, i was 87.2% full tank and still had to pit at lap 48. come out of the pits, flow puts me a lap down. i felt like eddie irvine trying to unlap himself from senna in japan, i had to unlap myself, and i know flow didnt want that, it was pretty tight. i seemed to be able to take a fast inside line at t2 that worked for me on a couple of occasions. get past flow, im in 8th, the just try to start picking of places. had a great battle with hitman for 5th, we almost wrecked about 5 times i think! worked my way back to second, from there just constantly calculating the gap to flow and if i could catch him. i was on pace to arrive with 1, maybe 2 laps to go, but too many little spins at the hairpin on the backstraight prevented that. still was able to come away with a second, 8 points is better than none. cya at monaco!!!!

Shure, np, i know, and that is why i was smiling alone at home when it happend. I took it like a knoc/knoc, open the door, and 22 laps of fuel, cold tire, i was not in position to hold you back, but didnt want to open so easy.

SteveB has found the official server replay for yesterday's NA Race. I have updated the replay link above to point to the new file. It is recommended that you get this file and discard the previous one (mine) if you're interested in replay watching...

Ha! I changed the mapping of the buttons on my wheel to suit the series (no LC, TC override, etc) and moved the ignition button. During one of my practice starts that happened, so I'm glad I didn't know about that record at the time - might have happened.

I really enjoyed that, yeah. It was a lot of fun. I hope we get more action like that in the future, and hopefully you'll make the bigger error next time. ;)

Don't worry, it's just the Kubica Effect. Give it 2 or 3 more races and you'll have a beard and be burying my times.

Oh, now you tell me. ;) No, that's good to know - I'll give it a test.

Ahh, good to know. That would definitely not suit my style, then; I may have to change. Any idea if that'll be changed any time soon?
