Chat funktion

Post by Coffeemachine »

I just thought this, and it seemed like a good idea.

Would it be too hard work to get a chat function up and running on the forum? maby a link from the index site....or even visible on the index site. This would be awsome not only to chat for fun whenever browsing the forum, but also prior to races ingame and maby even contact guests browsing. it prolly wont be too crowded but what the heck :P

and the most important thing: it looks cooooool 8)

i agree, but we allrdy have a mIRC channel #NARracers and chatbox in Relay. Mostly NAR dont seem to use it much so i think putting this on forum wont help.....

kaffemaskin, could you provide a link to a forum that has this? I want to see how it looks and works.

klaaz is right though, I doubt it would be of much use. But if people want it I'm sure I can hook it up.

Xzwins run this one, and il have to install it also. He can see on witch game is friend are playing. You can also chat, and also speak like MSN or TeamSpeak, but it runs half the size of MSN, as same as TeamSpeak.

This is pretty mutch independant to the forum, i think is not the kind of thing that Kaffe was proposing. So if a driver is in rfactor, you will know it, but just like as MSN, some dont want to be bather with always the need to chat, maybe it have some on/off feature to limit waht you want to use, i dont know, and i also dont know if rf is supported by that sofware, they support 700 games.

I think SteveB have a proposition for live chat for forum, can you give us some infos steveb?

The Forum on http://www.f1elites.com has a live chat function on it called "flash chat" if your interested it's in the upper right hand corner of the main page.

Their web site is pretty cool, but I am sure that flow could get something working on our site based on the outstanding job he has done so far.

Yeah, it could be working, it is a CSS module that can be added. I will just have to see if i can get it free or need to buy it. Also, will it realy be usefull, i mean MSN do the same thing, but if alot show interest in it, we can use it. I mean, it not a full live chat, you still need to log in and open that section to chat.

I would think it would be very useful especially if accessable in the ADMIN forum this way things can be discussed via chat instead of posting and waiting for responces.

Arrangements can be made for a discussion meeting then admins can be there at whatever time has been posted.

I think it would be a cool feature.
If you had to buy it Flow I will chip in. :)

Ok, read a little, and the donwload is free, no problem, and its built for the kind of site that im using, a CMS site.

I will let you inform when it will be functional, give me some time, few other things to fix on the site before.

I would like to say...Thank god we have some well educated people in this League.LOL.The chat function idea sounds cool.An asset to the league for sure.Msn is just alot of windows popping up and alot of typing.I have yet to install it again.I just use Skype as my communication with family.Leave the chat function till last flow since the job on the website already is totally awesome.More of a showcase of hard work by you and Bilbo.(Wuu Huu's quietly as the kid is still sleepin)...LOL....

OK, Bilbo help me, was not easy to figure were was the trap  i think we may drop the FLashChat, since the fee is 200$ minumum per year, + $$ per user...

I have another one that is free, but once you log on, you will be victim of sponsor, and can have access to all other public chat room of that community. They support the branwith and they get payd by theyr sponsor. I still have some few thing to test.

A simple and free one also is FastChat, but its little window, and you cant make it private, unless i give the access to limited registred. Il make a test with it also, and see what is better.
