In reply of steveB question of next year mod here my personal comment (not an admin comment). This may help to open discussion :
I would say that its better to use a mod that will grow up trough years. I mean that will update year after year or we stick with the same version for few years (witch can make a lost of interest for new driver in future)
I dont see the need to change mod year after year, and get use to new mod eatch time. We choose F1Champion that was the only F1 mod available, but was a excellent mod.
Now we have the chance to choose one. If limpy have in mind to update eatch year, we already know the mod, wy not keep it. But no news from him, and i dont know what is his intention for years to come.

This is in no way any criticism of the f1_champions mod!
It has worked great and enabled us to have countless hours of fun racing.
A big thanks to [NAR]Limpster for all his efforts in the creation and developement of it.
But having said that I would like to propose a "skinjob" of the BMWW car or the FormulaIS as an alternative. I don't know any mod by name but I am assuming there are at least one or fifteen of them out there.
Simply put BMWW.hdv + carshapes + textures.
The advantages would be:
It has the largest theoretically possible installbase (everyone can come and 'hang' with us).
It is most likely to be stable and supported in future versions of the game.
On a personal note I also feel that it gives some fine grained control in the garage.
The disadvantage would be:
As soon as we need to mod it for whatever reason (engine power, bump stop stiffness etc) we will loose the advantages of a large install base.
Another possible disadvantage would be that it is "too arcade".
I haven't really figured out what this means but it was a remark I overheard some time ago made about the FormulaIS car. I am not sure what the general concensus is about the "aracadeness" of the BMW car.
Those would be my thoughts on the subject matter.

Hello
Well way to early to call but.
Limp's mod is fantastic
All the cars are done they are all diffrent shapes and have the same phisics. And it is as far as I know avaliable for download for any one.
As for the BMW from ISI
Well I do not care much for the phisics I think this is where you here the Arcade word Noob. It really is not realistic.
And from what I am hereing reading there is one maybe two more upates for RF and then they will be working on RF 2.
So all of this will be left to the modders
As for Skining well that is not a real problem if you have a template but I have not seen a template for the ISIBMW I beleave it is locked like the stearing wheel.
I have not seen Limpy in a while Last we spoke he had gotton a new job and was very busy.

for me my idea the f1 champion, 1.06 is fantastic, i just see today that there is an other mod online from the same guy that helped limpy, so 1 thing i think it might got something good, and dont forget RH is gonna come out soon with his Mod for rfactor, and there is CTDP SE 05, so i think it might be good tu start testing those others mod, and then deside, we now already that Limpys MOD is good.
ok my as is out of the way loooooooooooooooooooool

I finally got around to giving 1.06 a try yesterday. I must say I love the graphics but the physics are just ridiculous. Way too much snap oversteer when you have full wings. I'm not very good setting up a car from scratch but I found it to be unacceptable. Although I'm not a fan of the physics on the BMW either. I really don't desire to go half the season before figuring out how to setup the cars again.

Well where do I start.
I REALLY REALLY mean NO DISRESPECT to anyone in discussing the mod for next season.
First off LIMPY'S mod indeed gave us an AMAZING season this year and yes we know his mod BUT the 06 mod has different settings so for me is NEW all the way around.
I always have in the back of my mind what AFFBORO said about the 06 mod that there were still bugs and the engine still wasn't right, this worries me because what I got out of that post was that he was not going to continue to update the mod, so the questions are WHO WILL? and WHEN? HOW MANY UPDATES ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO DOWNLOAD? WILL IT BE COMPLETED FOR THE START OF THE 07 SEASON?
I agree that the 06 mod is BEAUTIFUL but there is something (IMO) wrong with the physics, I did some laps at SILVERSTONE and what I felt is the front end at high speed corners had no grip then all of a sudden the car would find alot of grip and turn in unexpetedly also the ass end is loose even with high wing settings.
The CTDP mod which I still have to do some testing is (according to the creators) is BUG FREE.
Now some guys might appose to it because it is 05 livery but if it won't cause any problems in the future IMO the livery is no concern and you can bet there will be future updates to this mod an as far as I know they have already been working on the 06 mod.
So ALL this BLA BLA BLA my main concern like Flow mentioned is us having a stable mod and having future updates one that we can use for many seasons to come.
I hope I haven't offended anyone this is just my opinion.

Well we have alot of time to test few of them. I just install the Afboro mod, and im confused for 1 thing, the sounds, lol im not use to other sound than the basic one of F1Champion. 1 thing i find about is mod, you can downshift and dont spun, the compression seem inexistant. The handling seem better than F1C, i mean it seem to grip more, but once you slip, you slip like other. So im not shure, i cant compare with F1C1.06, i did only few laps few monts ago. BUt Afboro participate with limpy, so i can assume that they have probably alot of similitude with the both mod.
Maybe its a between the BMW mod and F1Champion. All car are on same level of performance, and the 1 thing, the car dont start back after a stall, Oups!
i install it, and works fine.
(sorry my graphic are not the best, but here a print screen)

another thing
Hello
Just to add to the CTDP Mod it is 05 we are going to 06.
We just ran a season of 05 why would we want to run 05 again.
And I am not talking about liveries I am talking about the pysics side of it.
And from what I undestand is (From what Limp) said to me a while back was Affboro did the conversions of the cars or made them but Limp did the work on the phisics end.
I hope that we will move forward and not backwards or stay stagnet.
Like in years pass where we where stuck raceing the same mod and year for 2 seasons before a update.
If the mod is picked and done and the phisics is what needs to be worked on. Then I beleave we have in with in this group to do that.
And not to contricked anyone but there is never a bug free anything there will always be some kind of change or update.
Thats when we adapt and we learn from.

One comment, we must not fight over a mod or another now. Wejust need to post impressiona and comment about a mod that we tested. We will see what, how and when we will decide witch mod we will use. i suggest personaly that we take the december to test few of them. Next seson is in march. Maybe somewere in January would be good to check with mod we will use, or mabye even late january. then we will have 1 full month to get use to what will be our mod.
This thread wont make us decide witch mod we will use, but help us to make our mind have collect alot of comment that will help us find the one that fits NAR needs.
Im installing F1C1.06, il test it.

Ok, i must sayt that i dont see no big difference between Afboro and Limpy mod. Its definitively show up in mod that both work together. Limpy have a more F1 realistic feeling, since car are just like real one. As for afboro, well they are painted differently. I personaly that major difference between them is paint. Other difference, i cant say up to now, i would need to test more.

I tested 1.06. i didnt like it at begining, so i change sounds for old one and felt better, lol. Im starting to get more use to it, setup will make a big difference. Not easy, but with time, will see. I hate having to learn a new mod physic, its like stating all over again, but life is always like that.
F1Champion1.06 on ISI sylverstone track : Brad is already in 19's high i did 21middle, Carrera in 20's i think, Paul and Hitman were in 22-23, cant remember exactly. But pace were from 19 to 23 tongiht.

yay, why not post some reference times
im fighting for the 19 barrier, 1.20.1 atm
, setups are haaaaaard to get right argh
as for the other euros i think (correct me if im wrong here) drago was down around mid/high 1.19s and noob in the 20s...and lots of ppl in 21 and 22 , but now its becoming a guessing game
and a edit here ! new time for me : 1.19.3xx , woho!
So to the man purpose with this. For all of you testing f1c 1.06: steveB helped me fix some issues with the steering wheel to se the rev lights better btw, i have the files if anyone is interested. it is for the ferrari though. thx for the help steveB!
Persoally i agree with the bug thing steve was on about, i get weird things fairly constantly. Now Im quite a noob still, but one weird thing i found was when accelerating with almost full power on 1st gear, then switching to 2nd gear makes me spin. and this is logical because?....ehm, the engine should have more torque on high revs 1st gear then on low revs 2nd gear, so when i switch with the same ammount of power i should be all good...or am i missing something here?
i kinda like the feel in 1.06, but it feels inconsistant sometimes (something with the physics?). you touch a curb in maggots and wow then your off to a wall in 300 km/h. and, after reading the article with alx, and seing the comment ive for long suspected, which was something like "simracing is quite realistic, but the cars are still to nervous over the curbs". I have hard time seeing a f1 do a 360 at full speed and then go st8 into a wall cuz you touched a curb while barely turning...thats another thing that bugs me.
also, im starting to think that the games shouldnt get TOO realistic (read inconsistant) either, ofc we dont know what the hell we're talking about since none of us has ever driven a f1 car, but when you drive irl you sit in the car, you feel the car, you feel if something will happen. here you dont. when i raced i really never went off track, even when pushing, cuz you feel what happenes. this is not something ive been walking around thinking about
, just got to thinking now when i wrote. sounds silly but its kinda true
but dont get me wrong, I LIKE THE MOD and would gladly race with it next season. im just worried about too many weird bugs

i think 1 thing or let say 1 option we can du is, when we test with all those mods and we think whot mod have the best physics, we can take that physics and put that in the Mod that we like, that i mean,
let say the graphics off Limpys mod is great and cars look good, we can put the physics from an other MOD in the Mod from Limpy, only an idea.
cause i dont like the CTDP, its kind of weird for me, reacting like shit, specialy in corners, no grip at all.
maybe its me, but Limpys mod i like better than CTDP.
Limpys mod is also a bit twitchy in the corners, and its thru what Kaffemaskin said, when u touch the curbs u went flying, with no reason.

but the grapics is great, the cars look awsome damn i like that,
with ctdp i have problems tu with the car ghrapics cars have strange colors
cyaaa
ok my ass is moving now

I don't really care what mod we use as long as it is as realistic as possible, with no need for constant updates and allows people with moderately fast computers to participate. ("Moderately fast" can probably be at least one generation faster than last year, where a Radeon 9600 or GeForce 3 was the lower end.)
What I DO care about is what tracks we use. I really can't stress enough the importance of using tracks that are public (or can be made public). We WANT people to join our practice sessions because we want 22 car grids throughout the season!!!

Yeah Dan, we will never realy grow up NAR to a full grid if we cant have public to join us. Last night, Klaaz have a server with ISI sylverstone and i can say that for the 1hour i was in server, i saw 4 public driver to join in. There is where we have to catch them. I hosted an F1 1979, and few driver went in. One even ask me to join F1rst3 league, lol.
Our track were fine, but i think that SteveB ask RH to release them, but i dont have no news about it. SteveB, can you give us an update on that?
On F1Champion, yeah its weird that the car is quite too mutch on edge in corner, i hardly cant spun in few specific corner. But is is the setting, a few setup is now available in garage with differential and with engine. The basic setup have value in it, we were use to drive those at 0, i cant say if it that. i did only 1 night of practice. Il do more tongith. Also the balance of car, front/back have possibility value than before. Maybe its just our setup that are not yet fitting our driving.

I aggree
Hello Guys
F1C 1.06
I do not know why don't know if it is the pysicis or the game it self or what.
But the sinsation of speed is missing it might have to do with the sound as Flow has stated. I will have to give diffrent sounds a try.
There is defenitly some adjustment on the phisics that needs to be done.
At low end speeds there just is no grip at all (Even with alot of wing and higher gears) May be it is intended this way for the fact that that at low speeds there is no air flow over the wings and no downforce =no grip but I think it still lacks a little grip.
I also find (Not I am not sure how to explain this) that in any situation when applying gas a little or a lot that it delays a little and then it kicks in and the ass end just snaps sideways. I think this is do to the lack of rear grip the front seems to have plenty of grip at low and high speeds.
That may be why at a high speed you go over a curb the rear end snaps out you spin and off you go.
I tried higher wings and higher gears that helped a little but not much.
I wonder that if we pm Limpy or Affboro if they will jion this disscussion and may be give us a clue on the whys and whats.
I myself would drive this mod but I think it just needs a little fine tunning or may be we are just so used to the 05 that we need to give this more time to adjust. I know this is contradictive statement but only time and adjusting would tell.
And with all do respect to SteveB and all the great work he do's on track.
I aggree with Dan on the track situation. If we are to grow in to full grids then we need open tracks.
