Relay Anticheat multiplayer client for rFactor.

Post by RC »

Hi,

Im looking out for rfactor leagues / drivers who are willing to help me with the development of my rFactor Anticheat multiplayer tool.

The Relay client is a tool where the more expirianced rfactor drivers can meet up. We got a chat lobby with private messaging features and we got our [own] server listing.

Another BIG plus:Relay has a advanced anticheat mechanism that will monitor for potential cheats like RAM cheats.[For those who dunno about ram cheats: with ram cheat tools you can alter game settings independly from the game itself by altering settings directly into your memory, this are generall used cheats.Example: with a ram cheat you will be able to set invurnability ON even if the server forbiths, and NO mismatches will be displayed.]

In a nutshell:
-Relay is looking for new users
-Relay offers VERY advanced cheat protection to it's users.
-Relay is the perfect tool for communities.
-Relay software is certified Spywarefree.
-Relay is designed for league use.
-Relay software is FREE

More Relay information and download: http://relay.dynip.com

We already have some nice 100mbit servers signed up witch are free accessable trough Relay.

So my question is: Is No aids Racing willing to co-operate with Relay and helping to build a communety, Relay could be a perfect "home"for NAR ?

If any questions are left Please ask me :)

Happy Racing

Thanks, we will discuss about it .

My opinion for now, is up to now, we didnt se the interest of use those kind of thing, since we dont win money, we race for fun. But if its a simple thing to use, and we are using a mod that is the same as public, any come in and we dont alow mistmatch (only in race), we could discuss if we could use it. Of course, IF its simple to use.

Il go see your link later tonight.

Any want to comment?

sounds like a nice tool, but i read the article and it sais its acting is simular to anti virus software. I always shut down or even uninstall these background running procceses so i wont get any massive fps drops during a race.
So if we are using it we sure need to test that issue as many seem to have problems with fps allready.
These free 100mbit servers sound like music to my ears though :)

This might need some deeper explanation. For example, a antivirus program does it's job real time and Relay does not. Relay performs periodical checks for cheats / cheat software on your system, think about once in 15 minutes intervals This is something you might notice if you run a low spec computer [ a slight decrease in framerate for about 1 second]. Also those "checks" are dynamically programmed into the Relay client software, taking place at "Low processor priority" witch means your rFactor game will always have priority above the Relay client software......

Actually that time-interval is what is scaring me, for the ones on a low end machine. I think we need to consider this option though, but will we have enough time AND PEOPLE SHOWING UP on testing it deeply ,before the season starts

Is Relay acting as a kind of network proxy, i.e. validating game packets, in addition to being an exe/file monitoring tool?

Do you have anti-hacking protection on Relay itself? Like, I hack Relay to always report everything is fine before hacking my rFactor...

BTW, we're using the latest F1_Champions mod (v1.04) for our league.

No, Relay does not change anything on your original rFactor. Once you join a server trough the Relay software, relay goes into "stealth" mode and perform periodically tests on your system, if something "bad"is found...relay will report that into it's own lobby where everybody can see the cheating attempt.
So, basically Relay is nothing more than a matchmaking service that tracks & reports [ram]cheat attempts.

If possible (after we get all awnser we need) we could do our next test on next sunday. But if a driver whant to join and dont have the Relay sofware, can he join?
Sure i can setup a server upcomming Sunday. I would appericiate if all testers join trough the Relay software because my main goal is to test the software in terms of stability bugs etc.
I hope you understand that it would make no sence for me to offer a server for testing purposes if not all competitors use this software. Besides that: to offer cheat protection all competitors need to be connected trough Relay.
For now (testing purposes) you can alternatively join trough the in game
lobby to test the differences with/without Relay.

Thanks for the server offer, but I don't think we really need it as, at this time, we want to stress our own servers that will be used throughout the season.

If it is not obtrusive and people who don't have it can still join a server that uses it, then I will likely use it for this Sunday's NA server test and whoever wants to help test RC can too.

Maybe a misunderstanding is going on here: there is NO problem hosting your OWN servers trough the Relay software we even would apericiate that..more servers = better :) All servers currently listed in Relay are free accessable 100mbit and running 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. And we want more of that !

Yo Bilbo,
I have tested out the relay client and it has a few assets to it such as the lobby config which we could all join then go into a server. There is an option to host a server. The thing is.The lobby. There is no lobby for rfactor. This lobby could be our server joining lobby to kick back into if someone has a problem.Similar to GTR.except of course for the link to the game which used to crash consistently.Using either their server (100megabit)or ours hosting through the lobby would be a tremendous asset in case of game problems. We would always have a lobby to launch from and go to if we crash in game and log out of the race. These are my obsevations so far.For those of us who still want to race we could either kick into there server or jump into a pcc or whatever to pass the time while the race is going on.I am so far giving this client a thumbs up for sure.I suggest some more NARs just try it out for their testing if not our own..

This happens if you do not have the proper track / mod ?

All servers listed on Relay currently use v1070 :)

Hi,

I eventually can add the NAR server to the Relay server list, if someone would pass me your server details.
