Pretty nice IMO

They (Toyota) said they have been working on this car since 2004....

Hope all that work will pay off.

2006 F1 Season

Post by Kaali »

Yeah it's cool that Toyota is as usual aggressive in their campaign. They wanna scare the opposition off by launching it earlier than others by 2 factors this year IMO:

1. They want to test drive it as long as possible before 1st real race.

2. They want to test the new Bridgestone tyres.

It is standard for teams (except for ex-Minardi) to begin making a car 1.5 years before it's due to race. Engines used to be made 1.5 years too ahead but FIA has make too many new engine regulations too often so...

It will be exciting with new TF106 - it's ugly as hell IMO  with all these wings but who cares if it's ugly as long as it's fast!

[edit] Don't expect it will keep this look though. I think it will look a lot different when they put it on track in Bahrain...

well I know what you mean about the wings being all over the car, but taking into consideration of the rule changes they need the downforce.

Hopefully they won't be as slow as some of the testing is suggesting, possibly between 2 and 4 seconds slower.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I hope not....

Trust me...they will be that much slower. That's the whole idea in the reduction of the engine from 3.0 V10 to 2.4 V8. The reduction in the "stable" will impact horsepower most, like from 950 "horses" (as the top teams had in '04 and '05) to like 750 "horses" as immidiate engine suppliers have to deal with now but I am pretty sure they will tweak it so more horsepowers will be gained as '06 season progresses.

It's a bit crazy when you think about it; FIA has put a limit so engines must not go lower than 95 KG (209,4391 pounds). Can you imagine that? A 95 KG piece of engine driving a 600 KG (excl. driver and fuel) of car around with more than 300 kph...

As far as i can see they are roughly 4-5 seconds slower.

One of the reasons that toyota launches so early is that they are already building and developning that car since begin 2005 so its not strange that they launch earlyer.

Here some noise

Have to make a small correction ... actually the sound of V8 is from the Mercedes V8 and not Scuderia Toro Rosso.
