NAR2005 mod - Get it here!

Post by Bilbo »

You can download the NAR2005 mod here:

http://noaidsracing.webhop.org/

It is 144 MB and you should plan about 30 minutes for the download in the best of times. About 250MB of free harddisk space is required for installation.

Reading the included readme file before installing this or uninstalling the NAR20042 mod may save you a lot of hassle.

You do NOT need to install anything (rh or other) to use this mod, although there is no problem if you have them already or install them later. If you have RH04 installed, you will be able to use the extra garage settings it provides as that has nothing to do with the NAR2005 mod.

Please report any problems here or PM me.

NOTE: There is a problem (exit to menu or CTD) when repeatedly switching tracks in multiplayer (usually hits after 3-8 track changes). Don't panic, just restart. It is not any particular track, it can happen anywhere depending on your luck.

Have fun!

Well I have to say...BILBO kicks ass...LOL>....
It took about 24 minutes to download.I tested it in test session and multiplayer and it went as smooth as silk.I also like the integrated screens from rh2004 and the new nar logo that goes with the mod.A big hand clap for Bilbo da man...and now we can get in some practising way before we have to actually race for the first time.I especially like the name of the download server....NAR.kicks-ass.org.....that is simply priceless m8.
p. s. good drivin last night Bilbo...was nice to see merc and some others out there drivin side by side like old times.
again congrats to Bilbo and the testers who put this together and tested it before release...bravo old chap(sorry...i meant young..LOL)
see you in practise m8's...wuu huuuuu

Wow this thing looks awesome. Great work guys. Would it cause a mismatch if I change the cockpit sounds back to there original sounds? My speakers don't like that extra distortion.

Aaron, I also don't think it would cause a mismatch. You just have to replace your team's f1sounds.sfx (or something like that) with an old one from rh03 or NAR20042 (under SeasonData/Vehicles/<yourteam>/NAR2005_<yourcar>). It may even already be there with an other extension (f1sounds.ori maybe?), I'm not sure (I'm at the office so I can't check).

BTW, the NAR logo, the NAR season icon and driver icon concepts are all Flow's. They were part of an update we wanted to do for last season's mod to add the customized rear wings, before we decided to postpone that project due to some issues not easily resolved.

DP, sorry about that. I guess something between you and me is slowing things down badly. I've got a 100kbps upload so that should not be a problem, unless many people are downloading at the same time...

If you continue to have problems, you may want to use a download manager like FlashGet, GetRight or GoZilla (I used these long ago, I don't know if they're still around or good anymore). This way, you could continue your aborted downloads.

If you're familiar with a dos prompt, you could install adn use "wget" which is a great, non-intrusive way to get stuff from "flaky" site (it has built-in download resuming).

I hope this helps and you can enjoy this great mod with us soon!

Echo, the engine sound files are those from RH2004, which are quite different from RH2003. As for the voice/radio extras (anyone noticed?), look at the readme file to know their story!

BTW (sorry for spamming the forum  ), anyone know or use BitTorrent? I considered make the mod available as a torrent but wasn't sure if enough people would like that.

A torrent would have advantages both for the clients (auto download resuming) and for the server (some bandwidth saved unless you are all behind totally closed firewalls)...

Thanks Hitman (don't get into trouble with your provider because of this though!). As long as the mod stays under NAR members "control", I don't have anything against it.

It would be real bad though if our mod made its way to some major public site, where RH et al. could see our mod as a steal of theirs (which it may be in some way) although that's really not the intention at all and I did whatever I could to give credit back...
