oh ya Bilbo. You went to an "fx"chip.Thats why you had problems.
Not the same chip used in the geforce3's.
I haven't tried any benchmarks yet but will when i get the chance and see what i get with the newer version of the 9800 pro.

Carrera, I guess I misinterpreted some of their stuff about "unified driver architecture" and all, but then, thinking more about it, it does make sense that they install just what you need for what you have. I was under the impression that they used a "mega-driver" (i.e. a one-size-fits-all driver [notice I didn't say "installer"]) and just used the relevant parts, instead of just installing the relevant parts, but I was wrong.
Steve, FWIW, I'm getting about 23k in AquaMark3...

hey steve I noticed that you posted a mark in 3d benchmark 2003 as a 6,625ish or so.I think there must be something holding your card back as i get a 11,627 in 2003 with the all in wonder 9800 pro.My buddy chris gets a 9000 or so with his tweaked radeon 9700 with everything maxed out.
Did you reboot before trying the benchmark?that is also a must.and yes Bilbo there is a santa clause...i mean no Bilbo unified architecture isn't as universal as they want you to think....LOL.....I will look for and try aquamark steve and see what it comes up with....

11,627??????????? in 3DMark 03? sheesh, i make sure i turn off all unecessary programs, anti virus, etc. this seems to be a pretty normal score < my score that is > from what i've read in a few forums, maybe i'm doing something wrong, lol

Yeah I score in the 6,400 range in 2003 and in the 15,500 range in 2001. I now hear there is a 2005, and it really tears coputers apart. My friend said he was getting like .3 fps in one of the tests.

hmmmm, just ran it after a reboot, and still getting 66xx in 03, are you sure thats an 03 score m8? lol. i made sure to set all driver settings to performance, and set aa to app preference

well sounds like you have the same settings as me.
application controlled...performance settings...but there is one thing that I am having problems with...maybe thats the answer to the high score. It says I have no pixel shader.even with everything maxed....quality settings to full...still says i have no pixel shading...very strange....everything else turns up normal...and it is 3d mark 2003...I have tried the other 9800 pro (not all in wonder) and get a score of 5940..basically the same configuration.does the second generation not have pixel shading maybe???.I will have to go to some forums to find out i think...also the 9700 of chris's is getting around the 9000 mark...mind you his is majorly overclocked of course...

oh ya p.s.
I am definitely not bitchin with a score of 11,000....LOL>...
Also I overclocked both the processor...fsb...and memory on this thing to bootsince I now have a killer cooling system.I have however had it lock up on me once so far.Hopefully I can run it like this all the time.hmmm and maybe i can wait now to get an x800 since this new card rocks so well in half life doom 3 and far cry...

yep, i have it installed m8, and as far as i know i have the newest version of the 9800 Pro, also it's the 256 MB version, the same pcb and core as the XT, all i hadda do was flash it and i now HAVE an XT, i can check temps with ATI tool, which tells me it's the XT pcb. It's running at XT speeds, 412 core, 365 memory.
actually i'm not too concerned with my 3D Mark scores, as long as i get over 100 fps with 4x AA and 4x quality AF i'm a happy camper
