Due to Mike's comment (f###ing chat during race!), I asked all drivers present after the div2 race (5 drivers) if they noticed lag at anytime during the race and ALL said there had been no lag.

I strongly believe Mike's problem is at his end or between him and me (assuming he does not have the problem with other servers) as people from all over America connected to me and saw no lag either before or during the race (there was VERY SLIGHT lag before Q when almost all div1 and div2 were present but we were 11 or 12 at that time). Given that Mike's problems hit only after 30 laps and it was around 9:30PM, I think it's likely a scheduled app waking up somewhere that is causing the problem or all of Mike's neighbors getting online at the same time to d/l pr0n. I don't think I can do anything but in any case, I'm willing to help if I can...

For Div1, I believe there are no problems when Flow hosts, so there should be no more vacations for Flow when he has server duty! :P

Finally, I should have a relatively good PC (my current, soon-to-be-former PC) available for dedicated server in the next few weeks too, if needed.

Well My connection is for the most part pretty strong. I have hosted race before and with more drivers and it was pretty stable. I am not sure why it was so bad this race.

But I have to say that this conversation has been done to death when it comes to F1 C online.
If I remember wrote even with Marks server that was 100MB they still had issues with lag.

I think Rfactor will be better
And the only thing that will make it better is that is comes with a dedicated app where if we put our monies together we can rent a gaming server and run a full grid with no lag whats so ever.

I say this because I have my doubts that we whould be able to run a full grid on a local connection. I really feel that once all the bells and whistles are done we could very well be t=right back where we started.

A home conection that is shared is just not stable enough.

I hope I am wrong about the above

I myself have come to the conclution
That this is the way it is for now
This is my fun time not a job
There is nothing that I or anybody that I ever talked to or met that can do anything about it.
So I accept the good and the bad and have fun.

hmmmm very disappointing situation

I think what we really are mad about guys/girl is that you compare this last race to USA GP....

First of all DP wasn't in USA and Meo wasn't in FRANCE.
Why please do you both base your feelings and expose them here if you didn't take part to one of these events
and is it useful to (virtually) compare them to influence the debate ? I just can't understand this...
Can you compare 1 thing to another you don't know?

The situation wasn't the same why should we rerun USGP because a racer has been disconnected :?: :?: :?: even if it's Meo.
We don't rerun FRANCEGP to be fair with Meo who was in vacations?
Now what is comical ?

Anyway I wanna announce that yesterday we had a server up with most of the Euro guys in and two NA racers...
Thx guys for checking your PLR settings and what I'm happy to announce is that we made several short races without any ghosts, 8 cars in and two NA pingers.
The situation is improving on connection side and that's now what we need.
Anyway we still plan a test tonight at after 19h30, come and have fun.

PS : Can someone modify the Webpage to disable the throttling code that brought us lag!

Cya on track

Well,
The throttling code is only useful to the server. It doesn't do anything for anyone else but the server.Using the throttling code properly helps prevent lag more than anything else.Disabling it will only make things worse.Anyone using the throttling code should check their connection speed online and then adjust the code to suit the speed.their have been discussions over the throttling over the last three years.Adjusting it is the best way to make the game run smooth. As for rfactor.I haver seen lag in it as well but not as much(thank god). But I don't think a full grid is possible there either. The only real advantage to it is the absense of join lag and a dedicated server.GTR is better than f1c for connection but is constantly connected to the lobby. And guess what. When the lobby crashes,so do all the games even the direct I.P ones.Rfactor so far looks the best and hopefully will be out soon.

Well... is it time to start joking about lag or what?

In the network settings it's asked to adjust the throttle upstream override that's what last NAR joiners did according to website, and it doesn't work.

Throttling is not supposed to affect clients right, but how can you explain it does?
We have lag when it's enabled on clients and no lag when it's not enabled.

Do we have to follow internet advices we found anywhere or the facts ?

Of course we can continue like this and laugh of all that, it's so much fun like this :D

Hi Guys,

BILBO, I think your right about Mike's connection.
I had a server up for practice a few days before FRANCE GP and he was lagging there too.

His car was on and off the track.

During the race (mine was a 5 lap race and I didn't tell anyone....hehehe) I had no lag at all and I watched the whole thing and saw no lag so he should be told to check his THROTTLE UPLAOD also, I just checked mine and reset it back to -1.

CHEERS
