That was rough

Post by carrera »

Well,I was at the back and saw major smoke and carbon fibre and wheels a flyin.Congrats to flow for surviviing that one.I was having major glitches and lag.I tried to cope with it and had cart rulz behind me by 1.5 seconds. Then all of a sudden..I cross the finish line and the screen freezes for 8 seconds and when it unlocks...Cart is 5 seconds ahead.Ok ..we'll just soldier on...Then it started to freeze in the corners as well.It got progressively worse and worse.I gave up before causing a major accident. That was one of the laggiest i've seen in NAR for quite a while.I do have a suggestion though.Since we have 2 servers anyway...Why not split it up into the over 30 and under 30 divisions. We can just take the total race time and combine them to get results. There is no way we can race 15 at a time on either server. It just doesn't work. We'll blame that on EA's wonderful netcode. The euros have a 100 megabit server so it doesn't matter...we don't and we can't use marks because he is too far away.So splitting the division will at least get rid of the lag.anyway...that is my suggestion..feel free to shoot it down if necessary..LOL>..but obviously we can't race 15...and also remember that this is a proximity net code...the closer we are all together the worse it gets....

I have to agree Carrera, no matter how fast the server is we simply can't have 15 drivers at the same time. I knew this would be a problem. We kept getting new guys, and there was no way I was going to turn them away, but now we have more than what a server can handle. I suggest splitting up the division as well, running a 7 car division and an 8 car division. Then, we simply take the total race time and stack them accordingly. However, there will be a problem when we have several people that are 1 or 2 laps down, as it will just say +2 laps as opposed to an actual number. Also, it isn't exactly fair, as different drivers apply different amounts of pressure and drive very differently. So, if we are to split, here is my 2 cents: We are each assigned a number, 1-15. Then, we are randomly assigned a server for each race. This way, the drivers are always changing and we are always racing with different people.

Also, when you refer to the other server, are you talking about yourself or Merc or? That would allow us to race both divisions at the same time. Otherwise I can just host every Sunday and we will alternate.

Anyway guys if you have any suggestions please speak up,

Hello Carrera
I was thinking a long the same lines, And was going to suggest something simerlar
We need to something becuase it will not get any better.

I love to race but not like that it will be a very ugly season with that much lag.

PS How do I put this :?:
I want to race you just did not know we where going to be inside each others cars

Why not split the league as (suggestion): Euro div, NA1 div. and NA2 div.? How we setup the NA1 and NA2 divs is left to debate but could be based on age, performance, geographical location (east/west) or anything else...

Why dont we all qualif togheter all 15, then split server and go...
US vs CAN or
Est vs West or

... humm... 1st half vs 2nd half or
... humm... Random...

We can find something out....

Hello All
Between the shitty net code and not having a dedicated server the best thing to do all around is to split up in to 2 div as Carrera & Bilbo pointed out a East & West divsion would be good as long as it evens out that way.

I would not suggest qualifiying together for the perpous of saving time.

Then at the end of the season the top 3 from each division or just the Champions can race for the all around NAR champion title.

I would also suggest if you do decide not to split in to 2 div.
That after Qual that the host right down all of the Q/times and we all leave REBOOT our (INCLUDING HOST) machines and the host can then Open up a server in (WARM UP) session and line us all up and then we race. This will at least give us all the best chance at a better all around connection. I know it is a pain in the ass and takes up more time but at least we have a better chance at a decent race.

Ohh yea Limit the chating this is also a Lag enducer.

Well thats exactly what I said before but I guess it wasn't clear. So, I'll try again:

We split the 15 drivers into 2 divisions. However, the drivers within each division are always changing. thats where my number system came in. We assign each driver a number, 1-15. Then, for each race they are assigned either server 1 or 2. So, in theory, this is what it would look like:

Malaysia, Race 2:

Division 1:
Drivers 1-8

Division 2:
Drivers 8-15

Bahrein, Race 3:

Division 1:
Drivers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15

Division 2:
Drivers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14

Etc, etc.......

This way, we are always racing with different people each race.

Anyway thats just one of my suggestions, let me hear what you think,

I dont want to split in half, cause some coud do bad qualif to be the best in slower div (2nd) spliting 1,3,5,7,.... and 2,4,6,8, is excellent that way, you cant calculate and youl have series of fast guys and series of slow guys mixt. It seem a good idea Cart

Well,we have adressed several issues here.
I like Carts idea of the changing numbers and therefore changing drivers on a constant basis. This will give everyone a chance to race everyone else.Even if we all reboot as hitman says.I have seen lag last year even though we did that.I don't think that will solve the problem unfortunately. The biggest problem we have also is the 1 lap,2 laps down syndrome which Cart pointed out earlier. The only way to really fix that problem is to only give points to the top 4 in each division. Then have a shootout between the 8 drivers that got points.Maybe a 20 lapper or so?.
Maybe even on the following sunday??since that day we would have all had enough of racing after 100%.Still though that leaves the others out which again sux.You know...this could drive a person crazy just thinking about it.but we all agree that 15 is too much for one server.Lets let some ideas fly people and see what we come up with.I have no probs with 10 people in my server.I am sure we could work something out sooner than later...ok?...

My point was why not split to whatever criteria and keep the "fixed" divisions? All divisions having an independent "life" with their own points and a Race of Champions at the end of the season, pretty much like we had with the Euro and NA divisions...

I think keeping scores (and meaning behind them) while mixing the divisions will become either boring and/or complicated. Remember, KISS (not the old geezers band!).

Ok Bilbo I see your point on the fixed divisions. Here is how I see the split according to age actually.Division1 consists of....Erick..brad..cart..mizuno..xzwins..andri..koma...thats 7 .........
division 2 would be........Hitman..Steve..Bilbo..Flow..Merc..carrera..Aaron...and echo...
Actually most of the second division have been in NAR for 2 years.
Ok give me your feedback or backlash or whatever you choose.
Fixed divisions means a final race of champions of course. Both divisions the a final race between the euros and the North america division.

I agree with Bilbo.

There is something to be said for running with the exact same group week in and week out. Although race outcome may become somewhat predictable (it is now to a degree) I believe it has the potential to present a better overall experience. Besides (IMHO) the races already run pretty late which ultimately may add one more compelling reason to do a predetermined (not post-qualifying) split. Additionally, I believe these groups would "self-form" if permission were given to do so.

This being said, this "split" may become an issue if/when we loose racers throughout the course of the season. If, hypothetically, one of the split divisions looses 4 drivers and the other does not loose any; we would have an imbalance that would need to be corrected.

I was going to point out that some of the ages aren't there but I do believe Aaron has a choice to run in division 1 also if he wants to run with Koma and the others. Also remember that Brad and erick and the others are faster than most of us in division 2 so this also splits speed as well.

ANother good point echo.I guess that would be a choice left up to the drivers or Cart himself(the head god of na division). The fixed divisions could be made according to speed only as well.I mad ethe suggestion because I have raced in NAR with steve and merc for 3 years already and know how they drive.I have also driven with flow and cart side by side many times so they should know how i drive as well.SO we could just toss around the names till we feel comfortable i guess.

Guys, I just want to say my point of view. Are you sure that all of us will stay till the end of season? are you sure that the 15 drivers will be there at everyrace? Myself, I already said I cannot do most of race, and I'm really sure (by experience) there will be people who cannot do all of races, or simply quit the league. What I want to say is it's soon to debate or discuss if we want to cut the league or whatever .... Let's wait and see because I think 12-13 drivers are good enough for server.

Another view on this: If we have 15 drivers for a few races, then some will definitely quit and the problem will fix itself! YES, I'm just kidding!

I woud precise somthing on this suggestion, not bad, but instead of driving on following sunday, only make 50% with 2 div seperate ramdomly, and then in same night after the 1st 50% make another 50% with both best 4 of the 1st race..

I raced in RC control Nastruck few years ago and the way it was Working was you qualif in catogery. They take total amount of driver spit in 3-4 catogory (A,B,C...D) not more than 6 and not less then 4 driver in eatch A, B, C or D. and for the race we took total of point and race in eatch category. But, in A you had all best driver, in B medium driver and....C...D... the only things is we were doing a total of 3 qualif, so it was easy to make a total and get the best of... Also the A was starting in front at exact lap time and B was starting with an Handicap of time (-10sec for example) and C was with -20sec. then you coud take all time of etch driver to make a championship, was best way to be fair in that kind of race cause we conn't drive all 30 member same time

It complicated for us in F1, but if any can find something good in it, try to find out....lol

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Holly Cow this is becoming more complicated then I could have ever amagined. Only 4 drivers getting points and then having another race. In my humble oppinuion that would just take up so much time.
And frankly the harder you make it the more drivers you will lose.

Sometimes A little goes a long ways.

I aggree With Bilbo 2 Div's and a blow out for the all around champion at the end of the year.
You will end up with 2 Divsion Champs and 1 all around champ.

I think all the moving around and the rest of the things will Frustrate people and take the fun out of racing and then we risk loseing drivers.

Yup, Hitman Its more complicated to explain, but easy to do, BUT CANT apply to our F1 league. I just tried to trow things out even if its good or less, maybe it coud wakeup some clue to a better idea at someone else than me... lol seem not...

It seem the easyest solution, what Bilbo end up with. So we woud have 2 league of 7-8 for now, That way, we coud have possibility to recrute new member to be shure that we don have a league of 4 and one of 9.

Hargrr. IL stop here, im not good to explain in english... Il sent my opinion to Bilbo in french and he will Traduce in english...lol
