Software problem

Post by Steve »

to all the puter geniouses in NAR, i'm having a problem with my installation of Disk Keeper Proffesional, it won't start, and i can't uninstall it. I get an error message saying another instance of Disk Keeper is already running. Any ideas what may be wrong? I went to control panel, administrative tools, services, and it says it's on automatic, BUT it isn't started, and i can't start it through there either, any help will be greatly appreciated :D
I may be slow, but at least I'm consistantly slow !

It may have crashed/unexpectedly stopped and left a "lock" file or a "lock" registry key or whatever in the same style somewhere whose purpose is just to prevent the app from being started twice at the same time. Now, finding and removing that "lock" may or may not be as easy as it seems...

Of course, if you don't have a store receipt for the app (know what I mean? ), you may just have hit one of the running-without-a-store-receipt hurdles. Otherwise, you could contact the developers for their input. Some companies have great customer service...

Good luck!

Cool. It makes a bit of sense actually for the app to require the Event Log. That's not the kind of application I would want to run with a non-functional logging system. Now, it could have used something else for logging other than the Event Log but then, that's what it's made for...
