It probably crashes because the PLR file points to some non-existant file.
Try this: Move your player profile somewhere else and restart. If that works, try making a new profile, and then replace everything except the first couple of lines in the PLR file.
Dan, I installed Beta2 and there is no 2004 icon when you go to change the profile. I looked in the folders and all seems to be there but when I click on the 2003nar season icon that is there I get the old versions. Do I have to remove 2003nar season?
Good, the problem was that people that had installed beta 1 and tested it left their PLR file pointing to files that beta 2 removed.
Easiest fix is:
1. move your profile somewhere else
2. start game
3. create dummy profile
4. copy the first couple of lines from the dummy profile PLR to the real PLR file
5. remove the dummy profile and move back the real one
6. race
Or just edit your PLR file and replace the current info with this:

You need to select RH2003 reason, and then your own driver (names are correct, icons are not correct). And finally select the second Albert Park circuit in the list (there will be two). The one you should select has a "NAR2004 - " prefix.
on my new install, i did NOT install beta 1, only beta 2, and installed the rh2003 updates in correct order, it worked fine until i installed the NAR 2004 beta2, maybe we should just race with the rh update until this NAR season is fixed
