NA Fuji race, Comments here !!

Post by Steve »

Hm, i had a 9 minute pit stop, then another stop for lost front wing, then missed a turn and went head on into a wall, lol. Decided hitting escape was my best move !!
I may be slow, but at least I'm consistantly slow !

Congrats to Flow for the victory and all who finished, that was not an easy track.

I guess I got lucky to end up with P2 both in Q and in the race. In Q, I did not run an outstanding lap and I expected to be much toward the end of the pack.

For the race, I got a better launch than Juan but I got hit by a red car at T1, which threw me in the sand and made me lose a few positions. Then, there was a nice train of nose-to-tail racing in front for about 15 laps, with SteveB, Juan, myself and Flow being all within 1 second of each other and looking for opportunities. I managed to pass Juan around lap 15 or so (not sure what happened) then a couple of laps later, I spun at the exit of the downhill left in S2 and hit the wall, losing the front wing. Limping back to the pits and adjusting my strategy to remain on 2 stops, I ended up about 15 seconds behind the leaders after they made their 1st stop (I guess everybody was on 2 stops). Not being one to give up without a fight, I gave it all I could to keep running competitively but I couldn't really catch the leaders and only near the end could I pass SteveB who had brake problems.

From behind (most of the race), it looked like a very good race from SteveB and Flow. Honorable mention to QUEBEC_Mike for his 4th position and for the way he moved over safely when he was lapped.

See you in China next week! 8)

Congrats to Flow for the win and also Bilbo and Steve B.

My Q lap went good and got pole :) .

For the race, I got slow start and Bilbo pass me, at T1 He got hit and also hit me, both Mclaren on the gravel, manage to recovery fast to second place.
Afther lap 10 the car was very loose, hard to keep with Steve B and Bilbo was all over me so I let him go no point to keep fighting, manage to make my first stop, car much better now need to push because Flow always pit late and He went 2 laps longer, very close call at T1 Flow :) .
At lap 29 PC crash  a device driver cause PC to reboot    .

Well is over now, china is next, cya there.

THANKS!!! lol, i was suprise to see the message i check it last race, but forgot about it tonight. Nice to see that the champ is in the pocket, i will be able to race with no pressure now, i was realy afrais to wait the last race to be safe.

Fujy race : Well, in practice, i manage to do a 1:07.7XX, but like Bilbo said, i should of wait in qualif to do it. I hit the grass and went qualif in middle pack.

At start, i was not realy planing to make a rush to front, but more saving my front and back wing, i was expecting some contact, and seem that it occured, but not with me, i was so carefull on this race. I was just so disapointed to see 2 driver in wall at exit of T1 lap1. Dont know how it hapend yet. It was a great pleasure to follow the front 3 leader for a while. I was pushing hard to follow them, but not trying to get into trouble, so i was putting pressure, but verry patient. Bilbo DNF, Juan disapear sudenly (disconected?!?) and SteveB was my new target. I did the inside of T1 to Juan at one moment, and almost stab him by going trough the corner in marble, sry Juan, that was a close one. I folowed SteveB without any good oportunity to pass him safely. After my second pit, i exit right in is ass, with alow me to put alot of pressure, and finaly SteveB did the same mistake i did with Juan, and spun at T1 and let me all the way open to the finish in 1st.

Congratulation to All driver, i think this was an exiting and close race, was realy fun!

Guys I owe you all a big apology. When I was coming into T1 I was on the inside. My visual flag to start braking was the groove on the tarmac changing color. I didn't see it on the inside like on the outside and by the time I realized that I was quite a bit deeper than I needed to be. I got it slowed down but had to split between Steve b and bilbo. It sent bilbo off but I thought me and steve would be ok. Maybe he didn't know i was there and we made some contact. I guess maybe someone checked up and someone punted me. I haven't watched the replay yet but I started it so I wasn't the least bit mad at that. I did see hitman spin or whatever and it ended his race. I felt absolutely horrible about that. Sorry hitman. :( Believe me guys I wasn't trying to dive bomb the run to T1. I'm pretty ashamed at this "rookie" mistake.

WOW what a race this one was. :)

My Qualy lap wasn't too bad my foot was shaking so I was afraid that I might get on throttle too soon at a couple of the off camber corners that would result in a spin...lol 3rd on the grid was a surprise and I was happy with that.

My race start was great approaching T1 we bunched up but all seemed to be ok then I saw my teammate (Aaron) come out of no where and hit Bilbo which opened the door wide open for me to take the lead.

I had a lot of pressure from behind from Juan, Flow and Bilbo I knew all 3 of them where there I just calmed myself and started to run my own race and was able to open a gap.
My strategy IMO was perfect I pitted 2 laps before the others and was able to regain P1 after all other front runners did their pit stops.

Flow's second pit stop must have been a short one because he came out right behind me at T1 OMG I thought the pressure was over.....NOT LOL I was able to keep Flow behind until I started to have brain freeze and was taking the corners way to cautiously cause I was afraid of spinning and that let Flow close the gap.
Down the front straight Flow was in the draft and I moved to the inside which was the wrong thing to do...I thought I had Flow beat but then couldn't stick the pass and I spun.

Then I had Bilbo approaching fast and around lap 60 I felt my brakes starting to go and I let Bilbo pass because I didn't want to ruin his race. With 3 laps to go I lost my brakes completely and just brought the car home.

I was very disappointed not being able to win this one after leading 43 laps from the start but I'll take the points...LOL

CONGRATS to FLOW and BILBO and to MIKE who finished a strong 4th WELL DONE MIKE way to hang in there. :)

I had a decent Q relative to the amount of practice I was able to put into this circuit. I got a crap start being more concerned with not stalling than gaining positions, turned out to be a bit of a break as I was able to pick through the carnage at T1. The first stint was pretty good the set up was great and I was lapping fairly consistently I caught up with QC Mike and Koma but had a hard time getting around them. I eventually made a huge mistake and Hammered Mike at T1, (Tried to out brake him and pass) luckily I hit him square and he was able to continue, I lost a wing had a short 25sec stop to repair damage and came out 41 sec behind him. I closed the gap to about 31sec and then he pitted and I was able to pass him and put about 50 sec between us. After my first scheduled pit I still had about the same gap between us and was cruising in 4th 2 laps off the leaders I had a huge spin on the back straight and recovered with no damage and then spun again just after T1 and friggin stalled on the grass.
I AM A COMPLETE DUMBASS, I have stalled so many times this year its actually becoming funny.

Sorry to You Mike I am so glad I did not ruin your race, you have been steadily improving this season and It is nice to see you getting the points you have earned. However I will be gunning in China to #1 not stall my car and #2 get my position back in the championship race for the non aliens like you and I.

Yeah, but i think i did same mistake as aaron did, but later in race alone with Juan, i did the inside and lost my braking point, braking way too late on the inside. For one moment, i was afraid of hiting you, but i sudenly saw that i was way coming too fast and little too in front of you to hit you. You maybe tried to avoid me also. I tought that it would be a close shot, but i was not realy woried to hit you, but i must agree that luck was in my ass. Sorry for that Juan.
