EURO Nurburgring GP, Comment here !

Post by killahead »

DanTheMan, we are sorry but the race server loaded the wrong Nurburg track. Someone probably gave you the wrong track download link or something. Sorry again to have you put up the server and then we don't use it. We are gonna get you better information about the track download in the future.
----------------------------------------------------------

Now racers, comment!

and.....if someone has the replay I perhaps someone can upload it somewhere, I would like to watch it. There was a few nice battles in the beginning. I unfortunatelly lost my brakes on the front right tyre a few laps after being hit by a lapped driver on the right side. Don't know if it was related but my brake duct was on 6 and disc size on 2.8 so something was a little odd......too bad cause I was in the lead with 12 laps to go. Now I had to settle for 4th.

Was fun while it lasted though :D

Who was hosting, can you get the log file report to display race stats?

It was the Relay NAR practice server that was hosting. Klaaz might be able to get it....?

Post the scores or screenshots, at least...

Possibly Dan loaded ISI's "European GP" instead of SteveB's "Nurburgring GP"?

Ahum hehe, well un expected win for me same as the pole i got.

Well what to say, i honestely didnt had any time for practise last 3 weeks have been very hectic for me working 50 hours a week so realy no time for practise as i need some time to chill lol.

Anyway i thought i would take an hour practise before the race would be enough for me to have some fun and reach the finish. However i got pedal problems this time, i knew off the problem and had it again. Brake was on for about 1 a 2% so that was making me slower then i wanted to calibrate but some things got messed up. Took me 20 mins to get it sorted. Then after that i had the problem agian i had before with relay so that took another 10 mins to fix. Then there where just few mins left to do a little bit of practise. I think i got in around 10 timed laps and that was it. With some experience i changed a few things on setup quickly hehe. Suprisingly i got pole with it, now i just dont know if drago and killa have done a bit off practise either :D

Anyway mine start was rubish again killa could get passed me so i was stuck behind him, was on for a 3 stops but well i made the same mistake as i did in silverstone, this was screwing up mine race i knew i had to pass killa quickly so what followed was a nice battle in the first 10 laps, then i made a mistake so drago could get pass me as well. After that i was realy frustated as drago was a bit slower and i just couldnt get passed, then in lap 15 i had to pit already and knew i was gonna loose much time with this.

THen i decided to change mine strategie, wich i should have done in silverstone as well I knew mine race pace was much faster then them So did a 28 lap middle stint and i took much risk with the soft tyres here as they where wearing out at end of stint and close to failure, amazingly i could do the same times as front runners with this heavy car and felt realy confortable so during this stint i passed drago when he did his stop, and gained many time towards last stop then i was only 5 secs behind killa, i could do 1 lap extra so i wanted to push as hard as posible and hoping that i might be able to pass him after mine pitstop but made a silly mistake on that lap.

After mine pitstop i was 7 secs behind killa and was able to close the gap to about 2 seconds and was settling for a hard battle with him in the last 14 laps but then something happend with him,.... i think a backmarker was playing with him  so last 10 laps was just bringing the car home to 1st position.

I dont know what to say, pole and win was realy unexpected i thought killa and drago would be stronger.
Regards,
Mark Aalberts

I had about the same amount of training for this one as you did DP, I did aprox 1 hour with Klaaz and Philmax earlier on sunday. But both you and me have been doing this for a long time now and it doesn't take long to get into it again (the tracks don't change much, hehe), all that is needed is a fairly ok setup. :D

.....yeah I recieved a "love bump", actually it felt like "tough love" atm, in T1 from a laped driver who tried to overtake me (guess who  ) I noticed that I had problems with hard braking into T1 the following laps after the touch and then my brakes failed on front right tyre (I can not say for sure it was related but I had brake duct on 6 and disc size on 2.8 as mentioned). I was by then 35 seconds ahead of RoadRunner and 1½ lap ahead of Drago with 12 laps to go. With one brake gone it was, to say the least, hard to get good braking, I seemd to lose brake power to all the other wheels aswell. I managed to keep in front of RoadRunner until there was ~6-7 laps left, I let him by (ofcourse) and not much after that my other front brake gave in completely.....and 1 lap later all brakes failed alltogether. I was now only trying to bring the car to 90% to get a few points. Lost the front wing and did a 72 second pit stop but I think I completed 56 or 57 laps so it should be ok.

After my good start, from 3rd to 1st when coming to T1, and then managing to keep the vulchers behind me for the frist stint and actually having a couple of seconds gap in the lead I was looking forward to close the gap on Drago in the championship. I had written off DP as a threat in this race but with 20 laps to go he became insanely quick  so I was preparing myself for a massive battle in the closing laps. Too bad my car broke, from what I understand the laped driver who tried to overtake me actually braked to late going into T1 and by that causing the incident....I hope you will be more careful next time friend even though these things happens easily.

The results:
1: DP
2: RoadRunner
3: Drago
4: Killa
DNF
MKL
Klaaz
Sailsy

Perhaps someone took a screenshot of the results I forgot....
Let's also wait for Klaaz to wake up, perhaps he (or someone else) can get the log files from the server.

my excuse to killa if i ruined his race by touchng him at t1 , but i didn't brake late, i just locked rigth wheel so my brake becomed longer.
Yes, i was lapped , but u can't pretend that if i reach you from back , i don't even try to overtake , considering what happened to me in all the race:
I did a little wide in pole lap so i loosed the possibility to attack the pole position of DP , which was anyway a fast lap.
I did a very bad start (that i'm not used to) loosing some position at t1 , which i soon regained and was able to follow Killa and Mark ahead , then Mark did an error , and i gained the second position which i keept till my first stop.
During the 2 laps before the first pit i noticed something weird in the fuel counter : in my opinion after cut the finish line of 21th lap i didn't have enough fuel to complete the lap; and so it was :( .
Fuel finished before the pit lane and the car stopped just after the trafic ligth , but luckily i tried and it worked , i was able to push the car till my pit crew by pressing the engine start button.
At the end of the pit i forgot to chech the speed limiter , and it of course was off , so i got also a 10 sec stop and go penalty , which i did the lap after.
During the second stint , just to complicate a little more the things , my phone ringed ( lol why didn't i switched it off lool) and i had to click the close comunication button on it.
Before the last stop i had Killa at my back (he was 1 lap ahead of me) , but i saw he was not able to reach me ( or more realistic he didn't want to....) so we stopped the same lap , but he managed to start again earlier than me.
After the pit i tried to push to see if was able to reach Killa, and so i did , but at the end of the strait i breaked in the rigth place (i'm sure) but i locked the front rigth wheel at hit Killa in his rigth side , and i ended on the curb and i was very difficult to take the car off of it. It was more a hill rather than a curb lol.
Maybe because of that accident killa lost his brakes and because of it crashed in hte wall a lost his front wing.
That costed him an extra pit which gave me the possibility to unlap me and overtake him , and i ended in 3rd position.
Those are races m8 , i know i could have braked mutch earlier at the end of strait , but both cars were completely efficient at that moment and i shoud have had the advantage of the inner line, but as i said the wheel locked and the car didn't turn quick enough to avoid collision .
It was absolutely not intentional , but even if i now know it could lead me a warnig or a penalty , i would do the same if it will happen again because it was an unlucky race accident and not a wanted crash to reach the overtake , it's not my driving style , and i've always been correct on track , but no one is perfect .

PS: i have the replay of the race and it is 11,9 Mb .

Sorry again Killa, but i don't feel completely guilty.
Cu on track (hope so :) )

Hey Drago!
No hard feelings, ofcourse not. I know you are a fair driver and all that. The reason for me not to expect you to overtake me there was what happened during the other parts of the race when I was in the lead and you didn't gain very much and sometimes I even managed to open up the gap a little. Therefor I thought that I was actually matching your speed at this race (silly me huh! ) and I was then totally focused on driving as fast as I could to stay ahead of DP when you came on the inside. During the circumstances I was more than a little surprised when we collided with you being a lap down and all and far behind RoadRunner in 3rd.

I have a new computer as you might know and I reinstalled rFactor and also made a new player profile, I needed a new PLR since the old one was "optimized" by p2m-noob to maximize performance, eheh....so I didn't have the virtual mirrors available (I realized that a few laps into the race. Forgot to change that) which made me more or less blind behind me, if I had had those Im sure this accident could have been avoided.

Don't worry about all the things that happened after I lost my brakes, I didn't expect anything more than a last place, I was just trying to make it to the 90% race distance.

Like I said, I had some problems with braking in T1 the 2 laps after our incident but according to the LCD there was nothing wrong with the car so I assumed that it was me getting tired, hehe. Perhaps the touch made some damagde, perhaps not......it was a fun race anyway as long as it lasted.

No hard feelings and apology accepted :D

I have posted the results on the website from all info that I could extract from the server replay (Klaaz's). Please note that this is totally unofficial until reviewed and approved by an admin.

I'd also recommend that admin(s) at a race take screenshots (F12 key, you hear a camera sound when it works) of both the qualification results and the final race results. This way no data is lost if the files on the server are not available for whatever reason and it only takes a couple of seconds per race (the hard part is to remember to do it before switching sessions).

Yeah Bilbo it was my bad, I was the closest thing to an admin at the race.

I was just happy that we had a back up server to race on and forgot everything else, eheh  :D

Hehe, that was just a recommendation, not a blame. Personally, I've been taking screenshots of most of my league races, no matter if I was admin or not (I don't keep them long, it's just as a safety measure and a bit of CYA if something happens with the server files and disagreement pops up). Yes, I sometimes forget or think about it too late as the server switches session but I generally do it. I'm suggesting it as part of admin duty just so SOMEONE thinks about it but it could really be anyone, ideally someone who makes it to the end of the race and even better would be having more than one person doing it (not necessarily in a formal manner). Just like file backups, the practice is mostly useless until you need it...

Ingo it is not only your fault, you told me in advance you wouldn't be there so I should have verified that the race server was in race condition.
