Hello All,
I have been noticing some strange stuff in my data runs. Perhapos the most strange (besides the lack of an adequate data sample rate for suspension vel) is that it seems I am able to generate negative ride height values on the straight sections of track. (on the order of .3 inches in some cases). Oddly enough, the car gives no indication of bottoming out.
Now, please keep in mind that I have a great deal of experience with MOTEC in racing (actual) and this simply makes no sense. Maybe over a curb or something anomalous, but not on a straight with no indication of sparks or a 3/8" gouge being carved in the surface of the track (insert head scratch)
Is there something weird with the ride heights (undertray locations) in this particular mod? Anyone else notice this?

Note that the mod was done on best reference possible from Limpy and some help of other. But i dont think that someone with as mutch as knowledge you have work on the mod, and other F1 mod out there for rfactor, i dont know, maybe yes maybe no.
To see, try the BMW in game mod, that was designed by rfactor with BMW and Intell. We will see if they brought a game that was realistic in telemetry of just a game for the fun of being sponsor of a game. Sorry, i cant help you on this. I think that P2M (who is in vacation now) may be able to discuss with you, and i think that 1 or 2 other in NAR have alot of knowledge like you guys.
Perhaps you may help on the mod adjustment, hehe.

I am still trouble shooting this ride height issue.
I am trying to compare data runs between the isi F1 car and our F1Champ cars. But.....I have somehow lost the rFm files that go with it.
Would someone please zip and email all the files that go along with the isi F1 car? Please send to Echoshill2000@yahoo.com. I will post here as soon as I receive it so I do not get multiple copies.

I don't know if this is the problem or part of what you are seeing in the Telemetry.
But if you watch a replay of a lap or even during a session to you will see the car um kinda like sink in a couple of places on track.
one place that I can think of is in between turn 1 and turn 2
When driving thru there the car do's not really react to it but maybe the Telemetry is picking it up but the game/car is not reacting to it.

Hi Echoshill, and all of you who use telemetry :
i'd like to start using telemetry too and not just making setup simply "feeling" the car.
I downloaded and installed motec i2 pro but when i load it doesn't show any lap. Is there some setting to let it work?

PS: Are there optimal values (like for tyres temp) for damper velocity , ride heigh etc ,or each track has it optimal values ?

I'm not using it myself (still using the old FTL telemetry) but I guess you can find all the relevant info (and more) in this thread at RSC:

you also have to edit your PLR file for the game to see the MOTEC files.
I believe it is these to lines you have to enter the MOTEC.EXE and plug in.

Hi Drago,
I will give you my spiel on it and you can go from there.
The guys are right, there are some edits to your player file that have to take place for the plug in to work. You will find those in the read me file. One of these edits will include the location to write the data files to. Normally, this location is something like rF\User Data\Log\MoTeC
Once you have these edits made, you will need to press ctrl+M to start the data acquisition - WHEN YOU ARE ON TRACK!. You will here a voice say "Data Acquisition Enabled".
The MoTeC software has it's limitations. One of which being the 10 Hz sample rate for the suspension velocity. The traces can end up being very misleading because a lot can happen when your sample rate is that slow.
As for target values and our tires.....got me. When you figure it out let me know.
The practical benefit for telemetry in sim racing is very limited. You may be able to look at time lost from one lap to another and (perhaps) setting ride height and such. NOTE: The MOD has to have the graphic offsets correct in order for this to really work well. Other wise, you may some some really goofed data.
Lastly, and I can speak with real experience on this, driver feel ALWAYS over rides what the data says when setting up a car. ALWAYS! As an engineer, I personally think the little cry baby's ought to just shut up and drive the car, but since they make more money (and it is there behind out there) we tend to cater to them. The only exception to this would be ECU data where as you will never (EVER) effect a change to a car that will jeopardize the engine....... regardless of what the driver wants.
