Camera 101
i think i may have just figured it out. tracking rate: camera 4, (eau rouge exit) seems to follow the car well, and i notice its tracking rate is 18, higher than most other cameras. ill make some changes and see how it looks.
DONT CHANGE TRACKING RATE!!!!!!
makes the replay very choppy, there is a setting under that called "movement rate" im going to try that one. but dont play with tracking rate!
edit again, well i must have made some other changes, i went back to spa2 cam file, changed tracking rate on just 2 cameras and it works fine. im must have changed something else to cause it to get all choppy, that or my computer had a brain fart. so it may infact be tracking rate, ill play with this for a bit and see if i can get it figured out. i just wanted to make this original post so peeps dids screw up their file, but it appears tracking rate will not mess up the replay.

ok, it is the tracking rate. ive got all the cameras fixed so that they always track the car pretty well. some other interesting things: the first value under FOV seems to have no affect at all. with cam8, ive tried -10 all the way to 100, and various settings in between with no difference. 2nd, activation radius determines where the camera becomes active. the way it works is this: the camera can turn in 360 degrees. again cam 8 (les combs) has a stock value of 30 degrees. this means that the camera will only rotate 30 degrees in each direction. as soon as the car enters 30 degrees, the camera activates, soon as it leaves 30 degrees the other way, it switches to the next camera. i tried 180 on cam 8, and it activated just as i was turning off the straight, and followed the car almost all the way to rivage(couldnt see it because of the road) i hope that makes sence.
now that i know that, im going to change some cams to follow the car a bit more, some a bit less. i also want to figure out if they can auto zoom. if you notice, when a cam follows you through its activation time, as you get closer to the cam, it stays the same zoom, and as you move away, same thing. im wondering if there is a way to make the camera zoom out a bit as you approach it, then zoom back as you drive away, maintaining a consistant zoom. ill post up the new cam file in a bit, im going to play a little more

Brad, try a replay of Sylverstone ISI track, you will notice that some track have more value than steveB track, i think its folwing wiht movement, but those value seem complicated to figure, i think it correct the position as the cam follow. Those info are at bottom of all value in cam. Im talking of original ISI sylverstone cam, the on on staight is interesting. I didnt had time to test more.

thanks steve b! ok, im retarded, the cams more or less do maintain a consistant zoom. flow, isnt belgium an isi track, or steve b? almost done with belgium, i hope you guys like what i did with stavelot exit cam, kinda a speed shot at ground level, almost getting run over by the car, just gotta figure out how to not make it rotate and follow the car after the car passes. man that absolute coordinate system sucks, took 1.5hours just to posistion the cam where i wanted it.

Lol its not easy Brad, i know what you mean. I was just proposing you to take a look at a folowing cam at ISI sylverstone that i find interesting that can be use for spa or other track if you can find how to control that interesting movement, unless spa cam already have those info, not shure i will take a look later.

flow, are you saying by "following cam" that isi silverstone has a cam that moves, or to "follow" their data? anyways, spa is done for now, im excited! i hope you guys like what i did with stavalot(double right hand-er leading onto back straight) here's whats going on with this one:
all cameras pulled back to what i think is a good distance, les combs camera is activated a bit sooner than stock, moved maledy camera, moved stock stavalot camera and made it static, added another stavalot camera right behind the other one facing backwards, creates nice speed shot, and move bus stop chicane camera to inside of corner, allowing the camera to follow the car through the apex. all the cameras are speed up to follow the car better. i hope you guys like this as much as i do (especially stavalot, that part alone took 3.5hours, so if you dont like, dont tell me, i might cry
jk anyways, now that ive kinda figured this out, i think i can do whole tracks in about 3 hours, if im just moving the zoom back and adjust the tracking, i could do it in 30 mins.

NO NO Brad what I mentioned above wasn't directed to you, actually it was meant for me (I should have expanded my thoughts)
When I took a look at the cam files last season I tried to make sence of all the numbers and headings but couldn't figure out what value did what and which cam I was editing.
That's why I wish it had layman terms of what exactly your editing for the result you want.
BLA BLA BLA LMAO
WELL DONE Brad and thank you for your hard work.

I have no problem with your work, great job Brad. Maybe you can take a look at Melbourne, you will notice that 4 or 5 cam is use to follow a car on the straight, would be nice to see then battle of end of staight (front of pitline) were driver can try the inside with the pull of draft.

im kinda confused. are you referring to the post that said you wish it had headings like move left and right? is so, the post i put underneath were i said "thanks steveb" was referring to your post saying thanks im da man.Steve B wrote:NO NO Brad what I mentioned above wasn't directed to you, actually it was meant for me
but i didn't thank you said anything bad.
that was just a joke, any feedback good or bad is good. this was more just playing around, i know some will prefer the stock camera locations for the realism affect.brad wrote:so if you dont like, dont tell me, i might cry![]()
flow and steve b, thanks! im glad they worked for ya!
steve b, i tried to put that cam right down on the rumble strip, but no matter how i moved it or its orientation, part of the view was underground, and as the car would go by it went transparent in sections (i called it "disassembling itself") looked odd. that's as low as i could go without that happening. also if i zoomed it out any more, same thing.
flow, sure ill take a look Melbourne and see what i can do
btw, im going to make another spa cam file that is all stock locations, but zoomed out to what they should be, and speed them up to follow the car better.
