Post by brad »

well i just got back from the hospital. im ok now. i passed out monday, and i was in a coma for a little bit. everyone was really worried, becuase the doctors could not find anything wrong. luckily my brother called the main doctor, and explained to him that i have this addiction for racing formula one cars, and that i havent done it in over a month. sure enough, they brought in 3 tvs and played nothing but f1 for 3 days straight, and i woke up! obviously just joking around, but i am seriously going into racing withdrawl, if my roomate knew what i was doing with the tundra when it rains he would kill me! btw, trucks are not the best vehicle for 4 wheel drifts at 60mph! i think im going to go to malibu speedzone in dallas this weekend and drive their "open wheel cars" i havent been since i beat kevin harvick last year when nascar was in town! (i seriously did, he even mentioned "some guy" beating him at malibu when in texas in an interview after that, couldnt even at least say my name, damn nascar drivers:) oh the humanity, please let me fix my computer soon so i can drive! at least im back with the girlfriend so she keeps my mind off it as much as she can

I soooo wish we had a malibu grand prix here. It closed down about 8 years ago. Man I miss that place. You should have said something like "Don't worry you'll get better" to Harvick. I'm sure he would have enjoyed that. :)

aaron, i never got to talk to him, he set fast lap then i broke it, he was there and saw it, just kinda gave me this look like: "thanks for making me look bad asshole" i just smiled back 8) only real life drivers ive spoken to were gil de ferren-houston 99 and texas motor speedway in 02 or 03 i think, and montoya-houston 99 one of these days ill scan the picks i got from that race and put them up(champcar @houston) montoya was pretty cool, he was doing an autograph session, seemed like i was the only non-colombian there. i asked him if he missed his battles with nick heidfield in f3000, and he kinda lit up(apparently he didnt think anyone in the states would know about that) and we talked for a few mins.

flow: yea my back still hurts, lol im so tempted just to go buy a cheap power supply and put the old setup back in so i can play, but it would be a waste of money, once i "hopefully" get a new cpu under warrenty"again hopefully" i would really need (want?) to get a psu thats sli ready. i guess i could go ahead and get a sli ready psu, im shure there is an adapter to go from the new type power connector to the old type. i just dont want to end up buying 2 psu. ill probably just wait, patience is not always one of my virtues(yes i know you all know that, you race with me:) but im gona try some this time.

That is hilarious. They really need to stop calling these guys the best drivers in the world. Good job though.

Hello Brad
Sorry to here what happen to you.
We miss you around here and at our races.

You can get a PSU that is SLI ready and use it regular with out any adaptor or having to buy another when you get your new system back up.

I hope you are going back for test and find out whats going on it is not a normal thing to fiant and go in to a coma.

Let us know how things go

lol, hitman the pass out/coma thing was a joke, i feel like im in a coma because i cant race!!!! sorry about that. i miss everyone here, i wish the laptop could handle rfactor just so i could go into practice sessions and watch/chat with everyone, but it cant. my girlfriend has noticed a difference, apparently i get cranky easy now! i think she wants me to race more than i do! but i do really miss hanging out with everyone and joking around in chat, always good times. i better stop, im gona get all emotional now

oh yea, hitman, the new power supplies are 24pin mobo connector, my old mobo is 20pin, so i just assumed i would have to get an adapter, are you saying the larger connector will still plug into the smaller one? they do look to be exactly the same, just the new style has 4 extra pins. did i misunderstand what you are saying? if it will work, then i might do that.

Hey Brad
You Bas...rd you got me
And here I was feeling sorry for you.

As for the SLI PSU ready
Yes they can be used on a none SLI mobo
A PSU that is SLI ready only has the extra plug for SLI just don't use it if you don't need it.

Hope we see you on track that way I can put you in the wall for that.

:) gotcha!!

sorry i didnt explain better on the psu thing. the mobo that i would be using right now is not only not sli, but its an older atx form factor(1.1 maybe, not sure the #), with a smaller main power connector. (20 pin) the new psu for sli will have a main power connector that is 24pin for atx form factor 2.2(which is what my new mobo that i cannot use is) in addition to the seperate 4 pin power connector. i am dense sometimes, i have a adapter cable that has the 24pin connector, i dont know why i didnt think about seeing if it would plug into a 20 pin, and sure enough it doesnt. i can get some pics to better explain, but i just tried it and they arent compatable. i guess thats what i should have explained- i have 2 mobos: the old nforce2 (for amd 32bit athlon)asus that has 20pin main power, and the newer nforce4 (for 64bit socket 754) gigabyte that has 24 pin. i cannot use the nforce4 board because my 64bit cpu is fried, so i would have to go back to the old setup. basically, i either need an older style psu for now, a new style psu with adapter cable to go to old style plug, or new style psu and a new 64bit chip and stay with new setup. i hope this makes sence. either way the main problem is money, that thing i never seem to have. i never thought id say this, im so tired of being self-employed, i thought it was a great thing, but it actually kinda sucks. i think im going to try and find a real job, and ive decided im going back to school. (im going to the factory toyota school here in dfw, going to be a hybrid system specialist and CAN specialist, i bet some of our networking/computer peeps know what can is(controller area networking) basically cars are computer networks now.

Hello Brad

Most 24 (20+4) pin ATX connectors have a detachable 4 pin plug. Get a 20+4 pin PSU. If you get a straight up PSU with a 24 pin connector you'd need an adaptor... but they are more expensive and harder to find than the 20+4 pin ones, so just better get a 20+4 pin.

In other words get the PSU that has 2 seperate connectors that when together it adds up to 24 pin so for now you only use the 20 pin conn for your old mobo, and when you fix the new one you plug in the 20 plus the 4 and you are in buisness.

I am asking around about this problem my friends who are comp guru's + at extreame over clocking forums.

thanks hitman, im gona check out that forum. im sorry i misunderstood what you were saying on the main power conector, i was unaware that some psu had an extra 4 pin plug that you would use in conjuction with a 20 pin to mate up to a 24 pin, learn something new every day.
