tracks allreay converted

Post by limpindog »

hi all

im just curious but why are we waiting on tracks that are already out there and run fine. the gtr spain for example , work with no problems runs ok looks good too

seems like a waste of time converting tracks that already been done and
work fine .

same with silverstone and hockenhein , these tracks already been converted and work online

Hi guys,

Limp the only reason I am converting the SPAIN track is because the GTR track doesn't include the NEW trun that was put in.

I don't know exactly which turn number it is, but it replaced the sweeping LEFT hand before the last 2 right turns before heading onto the front straight.

I have the GTR SPAIN track and yes it is well done. If you guys want to use it go ahead, it will save me time to go onto the next one.

As a reminder most of the already converted tracks (not many) are 2002 I am trying to get us all 05 tracks.

Up to you guys just let me know.

Well,
I have never run the GTR track as I could never get it working anyway. If you want to run that ,Thats fine too.I will just have to sit this one out and race in Monaco instead.

I'll second that!
I have recently become a big fan of Steve's work. It is fenomenal!
But I agree with Limpster that there is no real need to convert a track if it is current ('05), well done and resonably framerate friendly.
(But Barcelona is not current just like Steve said)
IMO: If Steve decides to do a track conversion my money is on his version. If not, just pick a good existing conversion.

yes limpy I agree!

for me it looks like a big joke everyone is working on tracks ...

I realy wondered about what tracks are working fine on rF when I was with dp in simworld.

and I am pretty sure the tracks they had there where not all that are done allrdy!

this all reminds me F1C times where every mod did the same tracks again. 1 fine working track on the game is though enough!

specialy in memory of all the mismatches that get caused because of different files.

guys that alowe all cars could have much more fun together!

... have a nice day! ... have fun! ... I DO !!!

Nowadays this may look all easy and dandy, but look back to the start of the season and only like 3-4 F1 tracks were out and working. We had to make some decisions and SteveB stepped up to the plate to convert the tracks so we could have a real NAR season on real tracks. We are "covered" track-wise until the summer break, at least.

Part of the reason why the tracks are not all posted in advance is that our testing process has evolved with time and what we thought were working tracks at the time are maybe not actually working all that well and may need some more fine tuning now that we know things we did not earlier. Also, SteveB being the nice guy he is, always tweaks his tracks until (sometimes past  ) the last minute to give US the best experience and framerates for the most people possible. We should all be very thankful.

Dunno if this is the same, but i have the GTL version of hockenheim, and it is gorgeous, looks just as good as stock rf tracks
I may be slow, but at least I'm consistantly slow !
