relay anti cheat

Post by limpindog »

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/R ... _locations

check this out ive been shown some rather alarming issues with cheating

{RAM HACKING}

i hosted my server for RC to show me the cheats and i was shocked , he made his car invincable even though all my aids was off , and rf not show a mm

now this is nothing to do with rf game its more to do with windows and changing stuff ive not a clue how this is done apart from it something to do with ram. most online games use anticheat programes to stop this but rf dont have 1 of there own or dont support punkbuster.

RC has made this programe and he says it will stop people from being able to cheat in those ways . ive tried the programe out and it works ok not too hard to setup and easy to use

i advise we start useing this as i think this cheating was used in f1 challenge not just rf .

im not saying any NAR cheat but i recomend we use this programe in future as ive seen the proof on my own server and as ive been an admin in counterstike many years i kinda no when a cheat is a cheat and this is a cheat lol how many cheat in one line anyway have a read up on this :)

i install it, takes only few minutes and yes it is simple. Works fine from here.

1- I know he can let us use server for us from an old post. Is it still possible?

2- Now the reliability of using it for race is proven good?

3- Will Euro still be able to use Dan server or Euro will need to use the Relay server?

What control will we have over the server?
Can we install our own tracks/mod versions at will?
Still keep our tracks private?
Can we download the replays/logs from the server after the race?

Anyways, my understanding of it is that the use of RC is independent on the use of their server, so that's really 2 different things (although the RC server will require the use of the RC software as mentioned a while ago).

Hmmm,I do remember pushing for this awhile ago and it kinda got pushed by the wayside. After reading Limpy's post.It looks like there are cheaters out there trying to win by abusing RF and f1challenge softeware.Maybe we should be looking into this more closely?

Yes Carrera, i remember but we tought it was not that mutch necessary to use it. But since we have more driver and more new driver, and the roatation of driver will be higher, we need to consider using relay seriously. We just dont want to bring back server problem like past races, and ensure it will be simple friendly use, what seem to be up to now.

I just tested this and it seemed to work okay, although with it being late I was the only person in the session.

Limpy, I believe Flow was referring to an offer they made earlier in the season where they offered to setup a dedicated server for us on a 100Mbps line. At least MY questions referred to that. But, as I added, those questions are not directly related to the decision to use the anti-cheat software itself.

I think the main reason we decided not to use it earlier was that there was already a lot of things going on at the same time (new game/mod/tracks/server, not counting the updates to same) and we did not really need to introduce more entropy in an already chaotic system, not to mention that some bugs had been found when testing it. Now that things are rolling, well maybe not smoothly but at least rolling, it could be time to re-evaluate the product and our decision about it (or not)...

maybe insteadt off so much thinking and talking, is best i think that the FIA members off NAR, just givit a go, and run a test, so they can see how it go, and than dicede, maybe it will be good for the NA division, solve the problem off the lag issue,
am curios my self what kind off tings its running in my PC lol  ,

It could just be me, but I can't seem to have RC start a server with anything but an "official" track (rF-original or ISI-approved tracks).

If RC is limited to that, it pretty much kills it for our purpose at this time...

Relay has NO limitations in whatever track you want to host, when hosting a track trough Relay you need to set it in game. the tracks in the Relay Hosting setup screen are only meand for information displayed in the client. Also this is editable from within the client setup screen. So defnatly no limitations there

i have got a dedi running through relay, all seems to work fine. loading takes a little longer and at first when i tried to joint it only got me halfway in or something but after a reboot all seems cool.
I ll leave it up for today to test on it and hope some more will joint.
As far as i see users with no relay can join from ingame, the racecast options all seem down

but joiners not using relay wont be checked, so the joining through relay would be mandatory and checked in relay lobby.

RC is still offering us the use of the 100mbit server and even concidering the last aguri seat in euro :)

I expiremented relay today and it was all fine, work perfectly for me. RC was in, he tired a cheat and it was not visible in game, no MM, but it was anounce in the Relay lobby. Now when a cheat is use, its only anounce in lobby, but soon a speak vesion will say loud that a cheat is use, witout having to read in lobby if a driver is cheating.

This is looking good.

Notice that NAR admins are seriously discussing about the use fo Relay anti-cheat for NAR. So if any want to test it also, go for it.
