!Important! Imola screen shots. Track cuts.

Post by killahead »

Hey all. In good time we (the management) want to take the oportunity to make things clear(er). IMO the rules are very very clear on what we allow in track cutting.

An idea might be to do a race at IMOLA and then watch the replay and see how clean you drive, this way we wont have to hand out post-race penalties (again). The rules are there to make it as fair as possible for everyone. Its hard for us to see how much you gain by a cut and we will probably count every cut that CAN be concidered a possible time gain.

I would suggest that in practice you stay inside the limits to avoid any unplesant post race time penalties.

Here are a few screen shots from Imola:

Always get in mind that if you cut by mistake, release throttle after the cut is done to losse the equivalent of time gained. We need to realy feel you slow down to compensate. That way, penality wont apply. Keep that in mind.

Make sure you really, clearly, release the throttle for a significant amount of time (i.e. a second or so), because the sound fidelity in the replays is not always accurate. If you think one second is too much, just think that EACH penalty you can get if you don't do it is 10 seconds. So you actually "gain" 9 seconds by "losing" 1...

Hello Bosses
I for one am thankful for the pics. :D
For one really big reason I was under the impresion that the added part of the curb not the grass not the painted part of the curb was concidered not the track.
In any case I am glad this has been cleared up.

Here is the (partial) rule again:
There have to be at least 2 wheels touching the track at all times. The alternating white-and-color part of the curbs is considered part of the track.
This IS looser than what we used in NA last season (and in all NAR before that), maybe you were still referring to last season's rule...

Anyway, up to now, take Malaysia in reference, no way doing same as like in Imola. Malaysia had deadly curb, running on them was making you kiss tha wall so hard...

Yes at a track like Sepang cutting doesn't even need to be discussed because it's impossible to 'cut curbs', and if you try to cut them the chances are you'll be spinning off into the gravel.

Yes I was referring to past season rules.
Maybe I should not had said nothing just in the past (IMHO) the part of the curb that is attached to the curb is part of the track. Not that I really use that part of the curb since it (At least with my setup) throws off the car and in turn I lose time and also I find that it is lower than the curb it self and I find that the bottom of the car will scrape there again loseing speed/Time.
In any case my setups do not hop curbs very well  so I tried to stay out of the jumping part of F1.
