Use the Force, Echoshill!

Some prayers would be going your way if I was a religious guy, but you'll probably have to settle for positive thoughts/energy/whatever you wanna call it.

Hello All,

Wow, it has been a while since I posted here....as I said to Flow, you guy's have no idea how much I miss you. Even though I was never as fast as any of you, it was fun to watch all of the pretty colors go whizzing by.

Out of curiosity, how in the world do you all know where the end of the lead lap is without me? :D

As Flow also mentioned, I am due to see a surgeon on 8/2 to look at possible disc replacement surgery. I am scared. You prayers (and kind thoughts...Bilbo) mean a lot to me.

If it would be all right with you all, I would like to be permitted to practice with you...just for fun. Please let me know if this would be ok.

Is CART in college now? Anyone know?

Mark

Yo echoshill young man,
I wouldn't be too scared if I were you.The people I know who had disc replacement surgery are very happy they did it.The pain now(especially in an old friend of mine) he says is totally gone and he has full movement. You've got to remember that technology has improved in the last ten years a whole bunch.I think the surgery is a bonus for you as you will get your life back.I don't think they will use the stainless steel disc replacement unless you ask for it.They will probably use a composite material that will outlast your lifetime.Knee replacements...hip replacements and any other type of joint replacement will give you your life back and eliminate the pain that went along with it.You may have to go through lots of physiotherapy but you will benefit in the end tenfold.Noone that I know regrets having it done.On the contrary...they say they are much better for it so go in there with a happy face m8.
Time and recuperation and you will be happy you had it done.
Good luck my friend...will we call you the bionic man after this ...hmmmm.I don't know...LOL...
carrera 8) 8) 8) p.s practise is always open to you :D :D :D

You can't get out of NAR unless NAR kicks you out!

We have to differentiate between active or inactive/past drivers mostly for logistical reasons, not because we don't like you or anything like that! So you're always welcome here and on our servers! 8)

It's not like our server passwords are changed very often either...

Carrera and Bilbo,

Thanks for being so nice with your words.

I hear they have been doing the replacements in europe for 14 years. It is just this past year that they are in the US. We have a surgeon in Columbus that was on the original clinical trials. It have waited almost (3) months to get an appointment with him.

Let me know when you guys are practicing again.

Bilbo -- how is mom?

My mother mostly needs to learn to pace herself...

On days when her rhumatoid arthritis (this is my own translation, not sure if it is really called that in English) does not hurt too much, she gets hyperactive and do all kinds of things in and out of the house, sometimes useless stuff or things that could have waited or that somebody else could have done (we probably have the cleanest house/terrain around). Then, because she wanted to do everything too fast and without taking a breath, she ends up burning herself out and has to stop everything for days or even weeks sometimes before she can recover from her back and/or neck pains and then she starts everything again as soon as she feels better. We almost have to "fight" her so she paces herself, but since both me and my father have to go to work on weekdays, she ends up burning herself out while we're away...

It's pretty frustrating for both me and my father (probably even more for my mother herself), not counting her doctors and specialists who "work" on her for mostly nothing (result-wise, definitely NOT money-wise!) since she repetitively "destroys" any small result they achieve. My father should retire in a couple of years, so maybe he'll be able to keep an eye on her and hopefully "reason" her, but I fear it's only gonna end up in more "fights" (which are not really fights but more like very expressive argumentation for which I don't have an appropriate word)...
