Can't open a server

hi people,
I'm trying to open a public server,but it doesn't work.
No one can see it.
First i tried openig ports on my router but nothing happens, then i used a simple adsl modem,no firewall software,but nothing again.
Have i to config something in the game?
Please help me.

I have a D-Link DSL G604t and a D-Link DSL 300.
THe first is a wireless adsl router adnd the second is an adsl modem.
I think my problem is setting the game because the modem has no rules to set and i stopped all firewall.

It's pretty basic, but make sure you have set the "connection type" to "Cable/DSL" and the most important setting, "Announce game" to yes in the multiplayer screen.

Otherwise, it's most probably your firewall/router not being setup correctly. I open ports 34200 to 34500 (for simplicity), for both TCP and UDP and it works fine.

This link should be of help also it show how to setup port forwarding on almost all Routers. Well I have not found one that is not there.

Now i'm using the modem not the router and it has no hardware firewall.
I also close zoneAlarm and no antivirus is running,so the connection in clean.
I followed your suggestion in the game option,but nothing.
I don't know what to do more

it works.
I did my first server and it worked fine (there was 4 people).
All that whith the modem.
Now i must try with the router and its difficult ports.
