The black momo force feedback pedal problem

Post by carrera »

Hi everyone,
Last night in practise we came across more problems with the momo gas pedals fading away and not going full throttle.I have politely asked Flow if he could put the fixes(3 files) on the downloads section for people to find easier.A post by Echoshill and answered by Steve alerted me to the problem originally and after only 3 days driving.I encountered the problem myself with my new black momo wheel.Anyone with a black momo ff wheel should be aware of the problem as it may happen anytime. The fix will eliminate the need to change to a new set of pedals(aftermarket) and hopefully the pace in a 100% race will not drop off as it goes on.Thanx for listening.

Wouldn't it be even better if we just linked to the original site? It would always point to the latest version of the tools...

I tired all of the software fixes for my pedals and nothing worked. I contacted Logitech and they sent me a new set (which I have installed now). I will have to see what happens with these over time, but right now it looks like the same problem exists.

I do not know that I was ever able to quantify a percentage of throttle lost, but I can tell you that it was a quite significant. If you have a black MOMO, the problem will most likely manifest itself by not allowing you to hit the end of your highest gear on the long straight-aways. When this first occurred, I thought maybe it was the game trying to simulate engine degradation. But I am now quite sure it is just Logitech.

This problem also caused some grief on the original force feedback wheels that were not momo.I remember my buddy having to reformat his computer altogether and then it worked fine.I think logitech should pass on the wheels to someone who knows how to keep them working.I am not into formatting just to keep a wheel working. One thing though.I have a spare microsoft wheel that I will use in NAR only.I can't afford to have flow blow past me on a long straight..LOL>..

More then

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Hey Guys
Lilkly it is the Pot's that are bad, they only have so many hours of revolutions before they start to miss calculate. In the case of Momo they more then likly started out with the cheepest pots they could get they are wearing out much faster then when test. It is not a surprise that the problem first shows up on the Throttle since the the thprttle is used at least 80% more the the Break peddle.

My Actlap peddles started doing this a few months back and I would have to unplug them to get them to recalabrate then they would be fine for awhile and then they would go bad again. I tested this by swithing the Break Pot with the gas Pot and with in a hour or so the break peddle started acting up. So I ordered new pots and it was good again untill the last couple of weeks and now they are back to F...KING up

All these apps that they are creating are just rebooting the peddles and readjusting them it is not fixing the problem it is hiding it. No Company want to say YES WE KNOW OF THE PROBLEM THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE USED CHEEP CRAP IN YOUR $100.00 WHEEL SET AND NOW YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT. And we applogize and are working on the problem.
IMHO Now a days they put together very cheep crap that do's not last long then you throw it away and get a new one.

Hopefully some one will put together a nice set that we can afford that will at least last a year.

LOL

Don't hold back hitman, say what you are really feeling.

My next set of pedals will be Thompson enterprises. I will probably still be slow; but at least it will be of my own malfunction and not my pedals.

Hello
If I say what I really feel it will have to be edited or deleted by the Admin.
And I really do not want to get one of those PM that say.
That states such laguage and post will not be tolerated

I my self have been going back and forth between BRD & TRW both are very well made and have never heard anything bad about either one.
But there are things I myself do not like about both setups.
Example I do not like the configuration of the BRD wheel and this is only because it will not fit my Home made cock pit. But I like the BRD Peddles.
and I like the TRW wheel and do not like the peddle set up. So what I am planning is to combine them. TRW Wheel & BRD Peddles :D
My MSFF wheel is still working very well (A little sloppy) but still it is ok.
But my Actlabs performance peddles are giving me troable and instead of ordering the Pot's again I went ahead and order the first peice of my setup. My BRD Peddles will be here on Monday  A little pricey  $430.94 with 3 day shipping but well worth it.
One thing about TRW that you really can not go wrong with is there Qurantee & there surport. Life time gurantee and most people I have talked to they say things like I have had mine for years and I use the hell all the time and I have had not problems. So in that respect you can not go wrong with TRW.

And you will be surprised that when you have good equipment that you will be faster if not faster more consistent and the one who wins is the one who crosses the finish line.

Logitech =crapola...LOL...after many miles they will finally give up.I admit though that the microsoft sidewinder ff wheel i have had for over 2 years now has been the best.Aside from a broken spring in the gas pedal last year. The pots are the best I have used so far. After replacing teh wheel bushing and getting the tight feel back in the wheel.I am ready to go another 2 years if necessary.Only problem is.I am now used to the momo wheel but I intend to use the sidewinder for f1 only. That way it will last a long time yet.I have a feeling the momo pots will give up in time.I will search for a new better built wheel in the near future though. The only thing that pisses me off more than the logitech cheap stuff is that gawd awful song"this is a story...of a man named Brady"..I think they should have killed that rerun along time ago...hehehehe...LOL>......

Too bad they dont make the red MOMO's anymore. Mine is going on 4 years old and the only problem I ever had was the circuit board where the pedals plugged into went bad, so I picked up a set of Act-Labs pedals and now go through the usb.

Huaaaaa!!!

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Hello All
My BRD peddles arrived late last night and I could not wait to try them.
My first impression is they are made very well and look very strong.
I installed them (This was easy) and just for now I set them under my Cockpit (Will have to redo this part of the cockpit) they are to far forward and my nees are hitting the top of the cockpit.
But I went and did a few laps at Bahrain and with in 4 or 5 laps I went from a hard 1:35+ to a much easier 1:33+ :D HUUUAAA!!!
I can't wait to get then setup right and really give them ago

i have a working solution for momo pedal decalibrating

Post by klaaz »

Because the way the pods inside are kept in place badly, i have put a spunge in it to make shore theres always pressure on it .
Normally my pedals only decalibrated when my neighbour drove here, but when we test it now its finally not an issue annymore.
hope this will help a few :)

you should ask the master of wheel problems lol I know more about wheel problems than I want hehe.

have a look here ;)

http://web.axelero.hu/mozso/momo_e5.html

but I get boring by talk about wheelproblems hehe I have to much  ... but maybe there is a little difference in the handling hihihi ... and at the end this is the reason because no other women drive noAIDS F1-SIM hehe

thank god I found someone who will repair my other f1 wheel for the race!

AND NO I AM NOT GOING TO PLAY WITH KEYBOARD !!!

I go for BRD now! And I have read that their pedals are to use with nearly every wheel ... just a change in the configurations and it's done!

but in the link u show, the most impotant detail of the fix is optional<glue the pot @ place>.

and i dont read anythin about putting a sponge in it, to replace the glue fix<i even have a dubble sponge to make shore the pods stay in place/position>.

its a simple but very effictive solution done in 5 minutes :)

id like some brd pedals soon too though, but i dont need that wheel
