Hi,

Question ( :?: ).
The new URL seems to be slower than the backup website. Anyone noticed that too?

It feels fast and snappy to me. I have not noticed any major difference.

It should be faster than the old one. Its a orivate web-server now. The old one was a disaster to upload files to....and it was a 30mb limit. This one should work fine, its a 10mbit connection to the webserver so there should not be any problems.

Ferdi,,,,,upgrade you computer, doh!

Hi Killahead,

Well, I update my computer very often. I use IE 6. I shut down my firewall and did some ping testing (see screenshots below).

Ferdi, your measurement is not correct. Killahead is using a URL redirect service in the .tk domain. When you ping http://www.noaidsracing.tk you are not really getting the correct IP of the web server, just the IP of the URL redirect machine. And that machine has most likely been configured not to speak ICMP (the protocol used by ping), or at least only answer to a select few ICMP types. ping can be used as a denial of service, so it is not uncommon for web admins to disable some or all of ICMP.

The proper name of the new web server is miffo.kick-ass.org (209.50.242.31). From my location the RTT is higher for the new server, but that does not mean it necessarily is slower.

Thx Dan,

I really don't know what ICMP is, but it's ok.
I have to refresh the new website sometimes because there are no buttons on the left site (they simply not loading, or they are busy to load).
Sometimes I have to w8 2-3 minutes before the webpage is completely loaded.
It could be my computer or internet connection (Cable). On the other hand the old website is allways loaded in a second.

I pinged the good URL you told me, see results at the screenshot.

Plz forgive me, I just don't want to be a "pain in the ass!" :D

Hi,

Sorry but I getting a little bit tired about this.

As you can see at the screenshot the menu on the left isn't loaded. Even when I finished my download (after 6 minutes). I finished download after several trying. It starts with 60 kb/sec and then it stops at 2 kb/sec. Then I started the download again and kept on 6 Kb/sec.
Is there a solution to this? (I turned my firewall off).
I use the backup site to go in this forum (otherwise I can't post), and to go to the download section I used the link at the main page (new URL).

That is quite strange Ferdi. The connection between you and the new webserver must be terrible. I am bottoming out my connection (235kB/s) when downloading the replay files.

How is your download speed from the F1R website (same computer as this forum)?

Downloading from the F1R site is quite good, not very fast but it's ok (see screenshot).

Ferdi, the file you downloaded was actually located on another computer. Please try to download one of the replay files instead.

Also, don't expect more than 235kB/s, that's all my connection can handle to pump out.
