NAR 2004 Season Track Pack #2 - Get it here!

by Bilbo
Here is the Track Pack #2 for the NAR 2004 Season.
It adds the Monaco, European and Canadian Grand Prix to the NAR 2004 Season v42.2. Please install it and try it before the official race so we have time to fix any problem in time!
You
must already have installed
ALL of the following before installing the Track Pack #2, although most of you probably have them already:
- F1 Challenge (duh!)
- RH2003 1.3 (Basic is OK)
- Tantra updates for RH2003, including the Monaco AIW update.
- ESCI update for Canada (at least)
- NAR 2004 Season v42.2 (normal or last resort version)
- NAR 2004 Season Track Pack #1
There's an included readme file containing the above and a bit more details if required.
I deeply apologize to all members for not having completed the full mod yet. The reasons are the same as for the existence of Track Pack #1, too much overtime, too little free time, not enough practice time and now, NHL playoffs...
I hope you enjoy this new Track Pack and I will do my best to have the full mod ready soon instead of having to do a Track Pack #3. If you have any problem with this Track Pack and you have done everything mentioned in the readme file, post a message here and try to describe as much as possible what happens (or doesn't).

Hi Bilbo,
well I downloaded the track pack #2 but I haven't installed it yet...why??...I don't have the ESCI tracks...I haven't been able to find them either...Tantra no problem...But ESCI tracks aren't at racesimulations.com anymore...I imagine you must have a link to them maybe??...I don't want to put the track pack in until i have it...I am going to download all the tantra tracks but won't install them until I see what ESCI has for updates...thanx for doing a great job so far Bilbo...

Steve, you can install ESCI after Tantra, that's what I did and it works.
Carrera, I put the links in the readme file.
Here they are for those whose religion forbids the reading of readme files:
RH2003 site (also available on the
NAR website)
ESCI site
Hope this works because I REALLY need to practice now!

I'm very happy to see the track pack is working fine because it does things a bit differently internally than the previous version, although the end result is very similar.
On another note, after about 60 laps of practice at Monaco, with invulnerability turned on, I managed to do maybe 3 laps without hitting anything, for an "amazing" pb of 1:25. I'm not sure I will participate in this race because there's not even room to get out of the way from the other racers if anything happens or just to give way. I would absolutely hate to hit a wall (very likely) and have someone hit me because of that and mess his race... I have no problems with taking myself out of the race (I actually expect that every race) but I can't accept taking others out of the race because of me. I'll re-evaluate the situation as I practice more but if I can't find any kind of consistency before the race, I will probably just skip it...
Oh, please, don't cut my hand, father... (alternative scenario on the SW DVD!

no bilbo !!! don't skip it m8, as you know, i'm slow as a snail, but last year i got my only podium at Monaco, a 3rd

finishing is the main focus at monaco, not being fast, hehehehe

Limpy:Don't talk to me about #!@#!@#%$ front wings!!!! I left enough of them in the streets of Monaco already!!

Seriously, thanks for the offer, but unless it is decided to make it part of the official NAR mod, I'd rather keep my installation "clean".
Steve: I'm not worried about speed as much as risking to take someone out with me, either directly or indirectly. Anyways, I will practice as much as I can (looking good so far to have some free time this weekend) and will re-evaluate the situation before the race. I won't let go of my 3rd position in the N.A. championship without fighting for it if I can!

Hey guys,
I will refresh your memory from last years f1 challenge release party....the scene...Monaco...In practise i didn't even make one lap without losing wings left and right...I remember killa saying"is everyone ready??"and of course I still hadn't made one lap without crashing for the last 10 minutes...I said"I'm ready"and he said "ahh ya ok...LOL..."after seeing my carbon fibre all over the track...how did it turn out??...I got second place behind killa with no wing loss...go figure...point is Bilbo...
you'll hear people comin easily when racing...just watch you mirrors and everything will be ok...You and merc fighting for that championship position is something exciting to watch along with motorhead and erick stil dukin it out...I can send you a setup if you'd like...but my car is fairly loose cuz I use hard compound tires...my advice is too drop your tire pressure quite a bit....it will make your tires a bit more grippy as well as even the temp out...I am going for a one stopper this time...because I just want to finish...not too worried about track position....I'll move over as many times as i have to in order to have a clear race...the track is hard on tires and engine temps...just run your own race and it will come out fine...not showing up for the race is like handing merc points..LOL...and he's right behind you...watch out for the experienced nar veterans...they are hungry for points eh.....bring it on....

OK guys, I'll probably be racing on Sunday... After a bit more practice, things are getting a bit smoother. I'm still hitting the walls way too much but the hits are much less hard and I now manage to get 2-3 good laps out of every 10 (still improving). I managed a PB of 1:23.4 on a non-wallsmacking lap which I'm actually quite proud of because it just felt "smooth", which has really not happened much to me at this track.
The championship is heating up quite nicely, every single race can still scramble the rankings a lot, which is very interesting. But this race, for me at least, will be one of survival. I was afraid of Malaysia, I never felt good at Imola (except when it was over) but Monaco, so far and by far, has definitely been the hardest to learn for me.

thats the spirit Bilbo !!! lol, hey, just have fun with it, i'm slow as a snail here too, i was in a room with mark, and dutch today, and did a personal best of 1:20 and change, and was sickened to see that i was SIX freakin seconds behind Mark, lol

Yo Steve,
I was also in the room with dutch and Mark today looking at marks 1:14.4 and wondering how the heck I was gonna get within 3 seconds of that..LOL...so I would say we are all slow as snails compared to Mark ...
but it is still fun to try and get a lap in without wing loss or suspension Damage...78 laps of nerve racking...don't even blink ...racing...and I think we will all be chugging a beer at the end of it....cuz I know I sure as hell will...LOL...
