Well, my brake pedal just broke off, so until I get new pedals, I am out indefinitely. :x Any suggestions that aren't insanely expensive?

I can map the clutch to a button on the wheel, but I am so used to having a clutch pedal, it's going to take a while to get used to it...

Ok .I have thrown everything at this system and also tried an ati 5770 with it as well.
I have not tried it in windows xp though so i don't know how it performs in that system.
the motherboard is:
Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H AMD880G ATX AM3 DDR3 3PCIE 2-WAY CrossFireX GBLAN SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
kingston hyper x 1600 dual channel
amd am3 970 black edition .I have not overclocked it yet.dont really need to.
I would go with the ati 5770 though as it is just a tad under the performance of the 6850 and cheaper by far.
Awesome system so far and the motherboard is crossfire in case of future tryouts.
if you do get a 6000 series video card make sure it is dual fan.I got the single one and it makes more noise.almost went with pentium this time
but it was more expensive so that idea was quashed...LOL...with windows 7 it rocks....

This might be of interest for those in the market for an ATI card: AMD Radeon HD 6950 to HD 6970 Mod.
Basically, you can get a "bigger" video card just by flashing the card's BIOS, with >95% success rate according to the article (and you can revert from failure if it does not work). YMMV, use at your own risks, and all the usual disclaimers.

My system with an AMD 7850 dual core processor and Radeon HD4850 runs rfactor like a dream. MOST tracks I get well in excess of 100 FPS with in car view, everything in game maxed, 4x AA and 8 X AF. Might just hold off on that upgrade until I HAVE to do it, haha. Although, I still want to get another HD and Win 7 soon.
