Yo guys, for our pc freaks i just got myself some new goodies.
ATI Radeon Sapphire HD5850 toxic 2gb
4*2GB Corsair DDR3 8GB
Intel Icore I7 930 2.8
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5
Barracuda 7200,12 500GB SATA
Windows 7 x64
Was having some troubles with my old card running kinda hot so there was already a new pc in the planning since some time. Got the stuff yesterday and started to build installed the software etc and now im trying out some things.I have to say im pretty impressed actualy, before i always used AMD but this time i decided to give it a go with Intel to see how this will work. Installed rFactor decided the first start up to put everything on maximum, and hey presto 450 FPS on average now. compared to my 100-150 with my old system. Eveything runs verry smooth and so far im impressed.
CPU is running stock for now on 2.8 but im planning to overclock my system to something like 3.5 - 4 i think. But for now i leave it like it is and use it this way and see how it goes. Also got a bit frustated this afternoon when installing W7, after W7 was installed it didnt recognized the DVDloader anymore lol. Well it did apear in the hardware list etc but as soon as you inserted a disc nothing would happen, not possible to open programs on disc's. Took me like 2 hours to discover that the problem lays that i was using old DVD drives wich somehow W7 doesnt support i guess. Took a drive from my other pc and that worked out perfectly.
Now i just need to activate rFactor and see how other mods compare to my old system.

Usually that's a sign that you don't NEED it!Steve B wrote:I just don't know what to get.

quad core, my dual was faster.....lol......so I am now looking at another dual core @ 3.06GHz or 3.16GHz
Re: New pc
good job DP.
I have been looking at a gigabyte board and corsair memory as well.Only I will be going for the biggest dual core AMD has.
I am running a 5770 in my latest machine and am pretty happy with ATI.
The 5850 is more than enough for what I do so that'll prolly be next as well.
The nvidia cards are pretty damn expensive.
I'll be heading down to Vancouver the first weekend of august and then its like a kid in a candy store again....LOL...
This is what happens when you get bored with the machines you already have.
On the good side my son will inherit the 5770 machine as I go for sata 3 and usb 3.0.
Gotta keep ahead of the joneses you know...
