Hah, cool!

His thoughts on simracing seem to agree with what I feel myself. (page 18 and onward).

He notes that sim cars are still:
"A bit too nervous over the curbs."

And there is also a part on GTR type cars vs F1 cars.
Which pretty much sums up my feeling exactly.

Very interesting read, thanks DP!

Speaking of GTR, is GTR 2 worth buying?

Depends on what you like.

Here are my impressions so far:

On the technical side the net code does not appear as stable as in rFactor.
They should (or at least this is what I thought) be using the same engine but I suspect by fiddling about they have gone and broke some of it.

On the artistic side it is a fantastic game!
Immersion is simply fantastic in terms of visuals and audio!
Even the cars are designed to respond to the small things. Brake temps, tyre temps, engine temp etc. This exists in rFactor aswell but it just seems that the car physics are tweaked to be more sensitive to changes in GTR2.
GTR2 just really puts you on the racetrack. You can almost smell the petrol and rubber! (At least this is how it feels to me)

But except for the rain there isn't anything in GTR2 that a good rFactor GT mod could potentially provide.
So this is essentially what you would be bying; An extremely well polished rFactor mod.
(But I really do mean _extremely_ well polished!)

Here is a forum thread setting up GTR2 vs rFactor:
http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?p=3211763

In there you will probably get the general concensus (Spellchek!!?).

Speaking of GTR2, has any Canadian found a place to buy it ? Amazon.ca does not have it and BestBuy/FutureShop don't have it either. Given that I already have a full "trial" ( ), I would not bother ordering it from the US and have to fiddle with customs. But if I could find it domestic, I might let a few $$ go "for the cause"...

Yeah Steve, but unfortunately, the US BestBuy feels like a whole different company from the canadian BestBuy (other than sharing name and looks)...

Also frustrating is the fact the Amazon.com has the game but Amazon.ca (where I usually get my hard-to-find-in-stores stuff) doesn't...

No Bilbo,
It is not in our stores yet.Expect to see it in Staples or Walmart first if you want to get it downtown. It will most likely be 29.99 here. The guys at simsters are running GTR2 already and are singing its praise.I imagine I will get it also when it gets here.I expect it to hit oct 27 as alot of games are being realeased then.

Hehe thanks. As I replied SteveB, it just got listed on the FS (and BestBuy.ca, same overall company) websites this week but it shows as "Item not available at this location" for all 5 FS/BB stores near me. I will probably order from their website next week if it does not get to any store near me in the meantime.

Thanks for the help! 8)
