Times at Jerez

Post by Kaali »

Hi guys.

There are only 31 days left before season starts *cheers loudly*. While waiting I need to do something F1-wise (beside testing F1 champions of course) so I did a little research. The times teams do @ Jerez are amazing even though so many things have been applied to slow down F1 cars.

Some examples:

Times of Saturday 15th January 2000 - Jerez

Driver team time laps
1. Eddie Irvine (Jaguar) - 1:25.32 (37)
2. Pedro Diniz (Sauber) - 1:25.37 (70)
3. Ricardo Zonta (BAR) - 1:25.69 (62)
4. David Coulthard (McLaren) -1:26.10 (79)
5. Olivier Panis (McLaren) - 1:26.22 (25)
6. Johnny Herbert (Jaguar) - 1:26.44 (25)
7. Bruno Junqueira (Williams) - 1:37.48 (22)

Who the hell was Bruno Junqueira? Embarrasing! :?

18 January 2001 - Jerez
"...Badoer set the fastest time of the day and of the week. Badoer used both F1-2000 available to him, covering a total of 104 laps: 66 with chassis 201 (best time 1.22.783) and 38 with chassis 204 (1.23.410.)"

Today's test @ Jerez
1. Alonso Renault (M) 1:16.956 90 laps
2. Button Honda (M) 1:17.114 53 laps
3. Montoya McLaren-Mercedes (M) 1:17.273 53 laps
4. De la Rosa McLaren-Mercedes (M) 1:17.425 109 laps - V10
5. Barrichello Honda (M) 1:17.492 60 laps
6. Heidfeld BMW-Sauber (M) 1:17.588 116 laps
7. Villeneuve BMW-Sauber (M) 1:18.069 91 laps
8. Webber Williams-Cosworth (B) 1:18.281 86 laps
9. Kovalainen Renault (M) 1:18.938 77 laps
10. Trulli Toyota (B) 1:19.430 103 laps
11. R.Schumacher Toyota (B) 1:19.681 84 laps
12. Rosberg Williams-Cosworth (B) 1:19.965 29 laps
13. Monteiro MF1-Toyota (B) 1:21.911 29 laps - EJ15B

Aren't those times from today amazing?? The slowest from today's test is more than 3 secs faster than the fastest in 2000. I wonder how fast they'd gone if FIA hadn't slowed F1 cars?
It's not hard, when you know how......
