F1 set for first test of 2006

Post by Kaali »

Nine teams in action at Jerez
Every team, except MF1 Racing and the hopeful Super Aguri camp, are set to test for the first time in 2006 at the Jerez track this week. MF1 Racing will test at Silverstone.

At Jerez, the initial four-day session will kick off on Tuesday, with Ferrari, Renault, Toyota and Red Bull in action. They are to be joined by Honda, McLaren, Williams, BMW Sauber and Scuderia Toro Rosso on Wednesday.

Of the nine teams, Renault, Toyota and Red Bull will all be working with 2006-spec cars.

Over the weekend, Michelin will conduct a wet weather test, ahead of another full week at Jerez de la Frontera, to again get going on Tuesday.

After that, the next major group test will be staged at another Spanish venue – Barcelona – from January 24th.

Speaking about that, am I the only one thinking that the McLaren "interim orange livery" is fugly? Quite a shock from the grey/silver of past years!
It's just missing a few daisies painted and it would look like a hippie F1 car! That's one more proof you should not do drugs before painting cars!

For those who haven't seen the ... COLORFUL McLaren here are a couple of links:

Hardcore McLaren fans will probably argue with that you can't really see the true colors by a picture and there are alot of other factors. :D

I got 1 thing to say about it:

Ugly .. yeah ! Funny .. yeah ! 8)

I guess red works better if you are only gonna have ONE color on the car......but hey, pehaps we can get used to the new McLaren.....

are you sure its not a joke though.....???

LOL@killahead.

Well, that McLaren car is a interim car they will use until the MP21 can hit the track. Some F1 sites claim it's a winterbreak color McLaren uses and some sites also say that McLaren will go back to the orange color they used in the '98 season.

I do understand you dislike it though.

Here is a MP-13 sample:

Now we are at it, lets go all the way. Which color do you guys prefer?

For the record the first isn't the original orange. It has been altered a bit.

Lol Killa, you will be driving a Lemon car, oups, in french when you say that your car is a "lemon" it means ITS SHIT, muahahahaha.

 But its kind of nice, simple design, but not that bad, the nice design curve of the car, make it nice

hahaha.....oh my....

well....hopefully the "real" skin will look better.....I think its probably because the silver/black McLaren was a beauty this might be a bit of a adjustment for the eyes to make.....

(btw.....the PorscheCC05 is addictive......me and Samy have been driving this mod a LOT the past week....wow.....great fun, awesome racing)

carry on...

Do you why they called McLaren the "Sylver arrows" (McLaren Mercedez) ?

Lol i just herd that this week on a TV show. The original car was white. They made a race car from aluminium, and they were ready for the race weekend. The official said the car was 1 pound too heavy. They didnt knew what to do. They were going to wrap up, but a (driver if i remember good) suggest to polish the car, to eliminate on the surface a little aluminium to make it lighter. Its what they did, they poslish it, and tha car was now all undercover of pain, showing the aluminium. The name Sylver Arrows came from that event. Funny.
