They did hot really hire him, they just could not get rid of him (due to the "unbreakable" contract he had with Sauber)...

Looking at it from another point of view, they will now be able to blame him for all their first-year woes... :(

And BTW, Williams and BMW are now two very different entities! :P

2 things, yes they cant get rid of him and also they are no more better driver available to replace him, all have sign somewhere.

Woud you pay 14 million $ + pay another replacement driver?

I just hope he will realy have fun in 2006, cause i think its the last time he will drive an F1, unless he realy improve himself.

I like that Villenueve stays in F1 as a real driver and not as a testdriver.

I agree with Flow that they needed to re-assign Villeneuve 'cos they can't find another driver elsewhere. Not that he isn't good but you gotta remember that Villeneuve broke away from a good team in '99 to help building a completely new team F1 up from scratch. Even though you shouldn't trust everything you read and there is a lot of gossip in F1 it's said that BAR got much better when Villeneuve was fired from BAR in the last part of 03 season assumable of having too high salary. But nevertheless he has a big knowledge on how to build up a new team. So I believe BMW will have a good asset by having good ol' Villeneuve.

And it's ok for me to have 3 world champions on track at the same time.
