Mine pc died

I realy dont know what it is causing.

The pc doesnt do anything, i can start it it starts to run also the fan for the cpu is running and thats it, there doesnt show anything on mine screen and it says no signal. Power suply is running and thats it.

I tried a few things out to check if it was the problem, its not the HD and the radeon.

At the moment im getting the nasty idea that mine cpu is dead ,....................................... at least nothing else happens, i can here the cd/dvd player initialise and can here that the hd trys to do someting but thats all nothing more happens and nothings shows up mine screen.

Is there any way to test this without buying a new one, dont want to buy stuff and after it pproblem is not solved you know otherwise its a waste of money.

Aaa great lol just gave it a last try, wrecked out several cards and wires and re atached them again,... when i fired up the pc it worked again


Anyone an explanation for this,... lol spended half a day on this problem and when i gave it a last try it was working again.

I have had this problem before also though.I had to clear my CMOS(bios settings) and then it worked.Sounds like something just wasn't initializing.
I'd say you were lucky this time.Obviously.You have better luck than me these days.hehehe....whew...you really didn't need the extra financial drain either.And sometimes it is good to clear NVRAM in bios as well.
Lets hope this problem doesn't reoccur soon.

Can only say that last months ive been verry unlucky lol,...

Though yesterday ive been cleaning out some stuff and putted about 10 gig of stuff on the hd to sort out all the cd's i had laying around here

Then still its the first time this happend to me this way, and the machine costed some money indeed with all the new goodies lol,... so i was quite worried that i had to pay again.

Ive been thinking and where the pc is standing its quite cold at night,... can that be the problem??,... can hardly believe that.

Ive gotten some strange message when it fired up again, made a picture of it will post it later here.

I had a simular problem.
But as Carrera stated it could be a million things Spicificly if you just loaded a lot of stuff could be something messed with your Reg files.
Run a Utility file checker see if there are any errors.

But if everything is starting up and you are not getting anything on your monitor. I would suspect your monitor is going bad.
How old is it
Are you seeing any adnotmal stuff happening such as it is flickering or it is hard view at times.

As hitman said.Some things that you may have inputed into your machine could have screwed up your reg files.Always nice to go get a free download of a registry checker just to make sure.Also,Most of the motherboards make a "beep"when everything is initialized properly.Most of the time it is the video card drivers.If everything else starts up normally and you don't hear the beep(if you have one)it is just the vid card not initializing.As on most msi boards(especially the "k7n2 delta").You may have to hit the reset button sveral times before it starts up.I would however like to see that error message and if it is the infamous "blue screen:fatal exception error"then it is the registry for sure.
One more thing.The cold does not effect the operation.Optimum speed of a chip is usually around the -40 degrees celsius range.So that is not a problem for sure.The cooler the better.I have mine infront of an air conditioner in summer.

also it COULD have been a little condensation, i've heard of that happening before, also Dutch, did you reseat your video card? maybe that was the problem, could have worked a little loose

Dont look at the fan error because i use a different conector.

Well I can not say I ever saw that before but it do's lead me to a question.

Are you or did you try to overclock your system. And you got this error after reboot or starting up your comp the next day.

If you did more then likly you went to much on the over clocking and your system cault it at start up.

Was that error message on your screen after start up or is it in your bios
page.

I don't over clock so I don't know much about it Steve would know more or maybe Carrera.

That overclocking error sometimes happen if you push the reset button while the PC is already POSTing/rebooting (i.e. before Windows starts loading).

On my PC, doing that resets the BIOS settings to the default (safe/slow) values but just choosing "Exit without save" re-resets them to the "normal" values.

Of course, if the PC is REALLY not working after the error, you probably have a real problem...

Well its easy enough just to set the front side bus down again but I have a feeling you are not overclocking the chip.This means the chip is damaged...and no I am not kidding.If you have had a problem with cpu fan before like it stopped and you caught it before it was damaged.Most likely it was.Example:last week I fixed a machine and let my buddy hook up all the connectors.He started it up and got into halflife2 right away to test it.It shut down after 2 minutes.I looked and he forgot to hook up cpu fan.Well we thought we saved it but it was damaged.Couldn't even do the simplest of cpu tasks.Needless to say I have an extra xp2800 in my drawer that is totally useless.He had to go buy a new one.If there is any damage to the chip it acts weird.On the other hand.If you are overclocking,I suggest going back to stock right away as it may already be too late.I hope not though.

As i said before the cpu fan error you must ignore because i use a cooler master and its variable. CPU fan is working properly only during startup it gives an error but that doesnt care. Its because the wire is to short to fit it in the right conector lol yeah i know and im to layzie to extend it.


I dont overclock or mess anyting around in bios etc etc, when that morning i tried to start up the pc it didnt do anything.

AFter mine last try where i putted out all cards and conections and reatched them again the pc worked and gave me as first the error message wich i posted here. I also took out the chip and reatached him again.

btw(pc is working normal now again)

After making sure that everything seems to be in order, I'd "stress test" everything for the next few days and/or nights:

- 3dMark2003
- CPUBurn
- Memtest86
- Disk/more general benchmarks/tests like in Sandra, etc.

A few HOURS (not minutes) of each of those will probably make any problem show up and if nothing happens, then you're probably OK for a while. Of course, I'd monitor things closely for the first 30 minutes of each tests in case something DOES happen (you can really burn your CPU with CPUBurn if you have any heat/ventilation problem).

This is pretty much the "burn-in" testing I do when I buy a new PC or install new hardware. If it has to break, you want it to break ASAP, when it's new and still under warranty (OEM CPUs often have only 30 days of warranty), not in a couple of months when you're having a league race on a hot summer day!
