Thanks Limpy. Just to make sure, other than being a "full" mod, is it the "final/official/release" mod?

Also, does it MM with the "old" 1.05 mod if the "2005/1.05-like" cars of the 1.06 mod are used (i.e. client and server don't have the same mod version)?

yes this the full release

you should install 1.06 and if you want to use the cars that you have now in 1.05 just select the f1c class :)

Ahhh yes,
Excellent idea putting both carsets in to the new mod.I did a little testing yesterday with Drago,Smokey, and Klaaz. The v8 engine has a powerband equal to a two stroke dirtbike.Hang on when it peaks out at 19,750.The car, after messing with the setup for awhile.Drives like a gokart on steroids.LOL.Thats probably why the car is so fun to drive for me.Grip and the cars sensitivity to minor changes in setup show how hard Limpmeister worked on this mod.Hats off m8.

Carrera as you tested it, can you say that it could be hard for us to switch mod before end of season? Is new setup adjustment hard to do? can you give us your opinion?

Well Flow.Of course every one of us has to actually test it themselves.
I had a setup made and tweaked for the first time in about 10 laps..
More grip and a torquey engine make it fun.I could easily see closer racing as with the extra grip there is more confidence. The tires wear a bit more with the extra grip but I can run fast laps even with medium tires.I am of course worried that we may not all make the transition so easily.I ran with the euros the other day and they agreed that it is a blast to drive.I think tomorow night I may see what a race distance will do if the 1.06 server is up.I will just run 1.05 tonight and this weekend.I have a seperate install for 1.06.I don't know if everyone wants to do that so we will have to make up our minds here in the forum or on track this weekend at the race.Whether we run this new mod or not.You all have to try it and make some comments so we can come to a conclusion.Oh and remember that there are more options for setting up the car.Make sure you check every screen.

Well Flow,
I'm not going to lie to you.Last night I raced with a few people from NAR and I asked that question.Everyone agreed that they would need time to adapt to this new one.Remember the speed increases of people like Aaron,Juan,Steve B,Bilbo, actually everyone including paul and xz which have picked up quite a bit since the beginning of the season. To kinda turf all those setups and try to make new ones to get where they were at ,I am worried that we would just see alot of spinning and /or frustrationwould take some time for sure.Even when I give out my setup to someone. It is almost surely altered quite a bit to suit there style. With the new additions in the setup screens,it could take a person a while to figure out the new stuff.I've adapted quickly to every mod made so far.Mostly because I am focused on setup and have been driving virtual f1 since pole position came out in the arcades years ago.
The newer guys here in NA division are just getting used to setting up the 1.05 now.I am worried that we would just see alot of spins and or frustration.
As Hitman said in probably the best quote of yesterday."if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Hi Guys,
I was one of the guys who said we should finish the season with the 1.05 mod.
Indeed it would be HELL for me to get a setup done,BUT looking at that screenshot would make it all worth it. :)

IMO I think the vote should go to the championship contenders, see how they would feel switching mods at this time.

Maybe CARRERA or someone who has been testing the 06 mod can post a base setup with a short tutorial on what the extra setup settings actually do to the car, at least it would help us to understand them and not have to spend days on trying to figure out what their functions are.

Just an opinion. :)

I would say lets GO FOR IT!!!!

NOTHING GAINED, NOTHING LOST :)

I think that for both champhionship (NA+Euro) the wining is pretty mutch in pocket or hard to reatch with only 2 race for Euro and 3 for NA (Australia was posponed). Its more about driver that normaly have hard time to cross the finish line alive

The race in championship is more between second to around 5th position... those are the driver that must consider that if they will assume the risk of upgrading mod. Frustration and more DNF may occur, or it could just be better and see almost all cross the end.

All shoud test and comment theyr feeling about it. A copy of rf is not a bad thing to do, just in case.

Actually Steve B,
There are many tutorials online that explain what each component does.
Setups and baseline setups are also online .It would be better if someone could just say"help"..LOL...and I could do that a bit easier .If everyone was in the room i would just share what setups i have in my inventory for baseline.

p.s as for the v8 mod.I'm all for it as well.Just try it and see.

Another Great mod no doubt

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Hello
First a big Thank you and Congrates to Limp and to those who helped him with this mod.
It is absultly a fantastic mod.
I wished I had more time to put in to it but what I have done.
I am still having a problem getting the rear end to stick. But I am sure this is just a setup & driver thing so with a little twinking and driver a justing should be good.
As for set ups well the componets are all the same except that these are very torky V8 with a little more grip once the tires warn up. So I don't think it will take long for drivers to get in to it.

But even thou this is a great mod and will be great fun and challengeing to race.
I fail to see why the change now when there are only 2 & 3 races left.
I could see it if we where half way thru the season and had two or three weeks to get in to the change. I know some might say 2 or 3 weeks seems like a long time but if you take in to account that we all have familys work eat sleep and other stuff and in between that we try to get in some practice and some races so you see it really is not a long time.
If you figure that on average a person might get in 1 or 2 hours a day if we are lucky to practice.
I would also suggest putting in a pole on the change and making sure everyone see's it to get a oppinuion. Via e mail or other means.
My hummble oppinuion.

Actually Hitman,
I was going to ask for your opinion anyway as you and I battle for the second position in the championship. It would not be very fair to have someone like me,who has tested the mod extensively, square off against you,who just installed the mod for the first time. Not very sporting if you ask me.I thought about this last night while looking at the championship table..I would have to put my vote on finishing with 1.05 for this reason.I forgot to mention as well.Simsters.com are running sunday cup races with the v8 supercar mod.I mentioned maybe switching to the f1champions 1.06 mod. This would be a great opportunity for testing the new mod as well.Even if simsters sticks with the v8 mod.It would still be a blast to go out and have some fun races.
Thanx for your opinion Hitman :D

Opinuion

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Hello
Thanks Carr
For taking in to account the Championship standings. :D
It is very cool & respectful of you and others.
But really with me do not take the points thingin to concideration because if we change I will put in the time to give you a fight  For me it really is not about the championship for say it is about the fight As it is Flow got away from me in the last few races where I just could not get it right.

Besides as I mentioned that I will be on a Sailing boat the weekend of Suzuka and think I will be home on time but there is a chance I will not be there. So that will also give you the reprieve of me haunting you.

In anycase if the Admins and the guys want to make the move I will not complain. The challenge might just wake us all up.

ive withnes what a change of physiks can do in fsr, though many where in favour some always have the problem to adapt. Some even quited including the champ leader at that time  .

You know i personaly wouldnt go for a change for only 2 races.
