so just install the game to a diff directory, and only add the rh2003 and NAR mods?

Merc: If it happens only once, it may just be a fluke. If it happens every time, it's a problem.

It might just be a bad sector on your HD and you were just unlucky to hit it at that time. You may want to run a chkdisk/scandsk/check errors/surface scan/whatever just to make sure...

The telemetry.spt file is recreated every time you get to a track (practice, race or multi) so even if this file gets corrupted, it's not harmful in itself. The fact that there may be corruption is worrying though.

Steve: I think the game does not want to re-install if it is already installed (it just launches the game if I remember). There's a registry key you have to rename or delete to make the installer think you have never installed before (Google is your friend). After that, it's just as you said: install to a different folder, install RH2003 1.3 + Tantra & ESCI as required + NAR mods.

Steve, the registry key is :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA SPORTS\F1 Challenge 99-02

What I do is to add a "z" after the "-02" part so if I want to undo the change afterwards, it's easy...

Google is not always that good of a friend... :(

A possible easier alternative if you're not confident with regedit is to copy your game to another folder and just uninstall normally (this will uninstall only the original, not the copy). You can then install again in another place.

ok, i Finally have it working, i just deleted the track { rh and nar version } and took the rh version off of my old computer, and copied it back to this machine, and then reinstalled the new track pack, and all is working fine, my question is, is this new version of france supposed to change the chicane near the start finish line? if so, mine isn't changed, all that is changed is the textures and some signs, the version i had installed previously had the new chicane just before the start finish

Currently, TP3 is a copy of RH2003 for France. Since RH2003 does not change the track layout, I'd say you're still using the "stock" 2002 track layout only with different textures.

Even after I modify TP3 to use the 2002 track with the ESCI 2003 textures, it's still gonna be the "stock" 2002 track layout with (again) different textures because ESCI does not modify the track layout either.

Killa, this is what is desired (ESCI textures on "stock" 2002 season layout), right? I just want to make sure, not because it's hard for me to change (it's not, it takes longer to test than to make the actual change), I just don't want anyone to get confused with multiple versions of the track pack and start training on the "wrong" track. I find it's already painful enough with all the extra mods and track packs installation in general (I accept the blame on this last point), I don't want any unneeded toying with mods in addition.

Yo merc...It don't sound good m8..
I've had this happen before and had to reinstall game...tried new video drivers ..scandisk..defrag...regclean...and still had crash to desktop..
Obviously if it says telemetry.spt failed to initialize or whatever else nice message comes up to piss off the poor unsuspecting player.If you do have to reinstall ake sure you make a copy of the "save "file first for your setups or like absent minded me(yes my mind is absent sometimes).
i just wiped it out and totally forgot to save save file..LOL>...

Merc, is this happening only at the France track or everywhere? If it's everywhere then, as Carrera said, it does not look good and if reinstalling the game fixes the problem, then you're almost lucky. It could otherwise mean hardware/driver problems...

I would try to re-install the game. I've run maybe 75 laps at Indy with the mod, most of which were on Cart's server and a few other drivers joined too with no problems. Unless someone else has problems at this track, it's probably your game, for whatever reason, that has some corrupted files. :?

If the game works fine at this track when using the RH2003 season, you may try to re-install Track Pack #3, just in case. Otherwise, I would suggest you re-install the whole game and mods.

Yoo bilbo you have a job to do :lol:

Killa had the wrong track, and since tonite he has the right track wich he actualy wanted to use for the league race. Only there is one minor problem as steve pointed at and what i said there is the invisible wall.

We need a fix for it :oops: . In RH2003 the track works fine but in nar2004 it doesnt, seems it doesnt recognize the new layout for some reasons.

Anyway il gonna take a look how to fix it and let you know if i found something. :wink:

Ok verry easy way to solve the problem is this bilbo

You simply delete the 2004nar2 france foulder

Then you go to the rh2003 france hdv file

2003RH_Magny-Cours
{
Filter Properties = 2003RH and 2004NAR2
RaceLaps = 72
Attrition = 36
TrackName = CIRCUIT DE NEVERS, FRANCE[/b]

you have to add 2004NAR2 see above .

I think that the problem is cause bilbo used the wrong update, cause of that in nar2004 france track it doesnt copy the right files into the nar2004 france foulder.

So bildo plz can you make a smal update for france or shal we do it the way as i say and delete the france foulder and add in rh2003 that what i say???

Its up to you bilbo.

Damn do you still love me :? can image that you getting mad cause you have to make another update :lol:

I will look at the problem on Tuesday night as tomorrow, if I don't have to sleep at work because of a trade show that begins on Tuesday (gotta setup a demo at the last minute, as usual), is game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs...

Now, you're REALLY sure this is the track we wanna use, right? It's not from ESCI but from Dennis Grebe et al.

The above "fix", while useable for training until I get the "official" fix out, will not be the "official" way to do it. I wanna do it like the other tracks, in its own folder, because you are then free to install whatever mod that modifies the RH2003 season without affecting the NAR2004 season. The advantage of this may not be readily apparent because I haven't come out with the full season mod yet, but when I do, it'll be "install and forget". You will then be free to do whatever you want with your RH2003 season without risking mismatches with NAR race servers.

I have a pretty good idea what can cause the problem and I think it will be easy to fix now that I actually know which mod is causing it...

Uhm....NHL playoffs.....STILL?!?!?! its almost fall dude.....do they have time to rest before next season start? eheh....

Bilbo Im sry that it was the wrong track, that was totally my bad. But it said that it was the ESCI France track and I just thought it was that one....didnt really remember but since it was the only track I had the odds were on my side eh....

I hope this one will work.

Thx again Bilbo.....great job.

NP killa. I'm actually relieved that this is finally cleared out.

As for the NHL playoffs, this really will be the LAST game of the season, no matter what. Which makes it all the more exciting too. But I also agree that hockey is a winter sport and should act accordingly. Still, it's much more pleasant to go to the parade after your home team wins the Cup when it's +20C rather than -40C... 8)

yep pretty soon there will be no off season just all year around hockey.
How the hell can you keep track of all the teams anyway??..so many expansion teams added every year that the playeoffs are almost into the summer....and the season starts again in september...LOL...I don't really care as long as Calgary wins the Stanley cup.I think Jarome iginla deserves to carry it around Calgary.They been fighting the odds all playoffs.I'll be watchin this one closely .go flames go.
