Yeah but is it possible to upload it somewhere? I am afraid, although I would like to, I can't give it via msn file transfer 'cos my msn transfer is no the best in the world.

Can it be posted here in the forum?

Steve B wrote:Hi Guys,

This might be a little off topic but how do you save the replay of a FULL race?

In the replay options of the game will it allow you to save a full race?
Oh yes Steve B. You definitely can save a full race. You should try it, it's kinda neat to be able to watch a race.

The setup is quite simple. In the Replay Menu there are 4 things you can adjust:

"Record Replays" should be set to "On".

"Replay Fidelity" determines quality of recording. I have SATA RAID 0 so I have set it to "Full" but I am sure you don't need really fast hdd's to be able to set to "Full". I am sure normal PATA, no RAID will be sufficient.

"Record Hot Laps" not necessary to have that on but I like it so I have it on.

"Instant Replay" I wish that could be turned off. I don't use it and it takes resources but it can't be turned off.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are interested in keeping replays it's a good thing to rename a replay RIGHT after a race. Otherwise the program will overwrite the replay next time you race the same circuit by default. I rename both full race replay and the appropiate Hot Lap replay. Make sure to rename it to something you can remember.

See you on track! 8)

About uploading the replays: I will provide temporary FTP access to those that have replays to send. More info will be provided when I am ready to handle that.

About replay fidelity: You can crank that to the max with no fear. I used to run on an AthlonXP 1600+ / 512MB RAM / 64MB GeForce3 / non-raided PATA HD UDMA100 with absolutely no problems (@1024x768 with most video settings at medium, some at high).

here's a thread at RSC about improving replay quality, i tried it, and can def tell a difference. Here's a screenie from my Spa NAR replay, looks good eh? I downsized it, and saved as a .jpeg, so it doesn't look quite as good as the original screenie, but it still looks pretty nice !!

Thanks Steve, I didn't know about that one.

Out of curiosity, what value are you using and did you notice any frame rate drop while racing?

i set mine to 54 Bilbo, and noticed no FPS drop at all m8 , in cockpit view, unless i have a LOT of cars around me, my FPS never goes below 100, and thats with 6 X AA, and 4 X AF, Drivers set to High Quality, 1280 X 1024 Resolution

hi guys,

I was wondering if you knew why is it when I switch my vid settings to what Steve has his set at the game doesn't run as smooth as it does with APPLICATION CONTROLED settings.

My system:
P4 @ 3GHz
1GB DDR2 ram
Radeon X600

Before I open the game I make sure that NOTHING (except anti virus) is running in the background to make sure the game is getting full cpu.

Thanks

Steve B

what settings do you mean Steve? the replay settings? or video settings?

I believe Steve has a better video card but I could be mistaken...

Also, it appears normal that if you force better settings than what the game normally uses, you're gonna have to "pay" a bit for it...

with the X600, you might wanna drop the AA to 2 X and the AF to 2 X also Steve, i don't know much about those cards, but the one i have is almost the top of the line ATI card < excluding the X1800 that is somewhat available now >

ok Steve thanks.
I believe the x600 vid card is just below yours Steve.
I tried your settings and I got little flickers with the frame rate so I will try it at 2x.

If that doesn't work I will just set it back to APP controled.

Thanks guys.

well steve, you don't want to set it twice m8, in other words, if you set it to 2 x in the F1C config file, AND set it to 21 x in the ATI control panel, that would probably mess everything up, lol, use one or the other, not both :o)
