NAR 2004 Season Track Pack #3

Post by Bilbo »

Here's the NAR 2004 Season Track Pack #3, adding the United States, France and Great Britain tracks to your NAR2004 Season (tm). 8)

If you already have the previous 2 Track Packs working, just make sure you install the ESCI update for Silverstone (2 zip files to decompress) BEFORE installing the Track Pack #3.

Please get it and try it as soon as possible (i.e. don't wait 'til 15 minutes before a race!) in case there is a problem (like there was in TP#2).

Report ANY problem here. Read the included readme file in case of emergency. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 and older. Uhhh, sorry...

I have to apologize once again for not coming up with the full season mod. I spent most of the day "discovering" that if you name some folders too long, F1C just acts weird and inconsistent. Once the problem was found, it was easy to work around but finding the cause took all afternoon (it was a holiday here today) because the symptoms were not always the same and the game just gives NO information about why it does not work.

The full season mod will be released (at worst) in the first days of the NAR summer break (i.e. end of June).

BTW, I have again forgotten to include the longer practice sessions. I promise they will be part of the full season mod!

All: Thanks for the nice words. 8)

Carrera: Yeah, Silverstone is GB. Just grab the Silverstone2003 and Silverstone2003_1_2 zip files. I don't think we want to have one more wacko on track...

DP: That's what I promised to do for the full mod in the 2nd post above. I wanted to do it for this trackpack but forgot again...

Bilbo.

What about France 2003 from ESCI (with the new last section), should we do same procedure with that one? Install it before Track pack 3?

Hey Bilbo I just did a quick test and it looks good m8. I'll have a server up tonight to test it online and hopefully some people will show up. Man, it sucks not having pedals, using the buttons on the wheel really sucks. Oh well, hopefully Thursday of Friday my pedals and vid card will come :D.

Im putting up a server now, I hope some guys can come,

What do you mean, France 2003?

On ESCI's site (http://www.esci.tk) there's only Canada (Montreal), Monza (Italy), Silverstone (Great Britain) and Spa (Belgium).

If there are others, give me an URL because I don't know about them and they're NOT accounted for in the mod (although it's possible that it works without modifications to the mod depending on which files have been modified by ESCI).

In any case, yes, all "non-NAR" mods MUST be installed before the relevant track pack. You can usually install them after the track packs if you make sure to re-install the track packs afterwards (make sure to delete the HAT files for TP#2 if you do because it does not clean them correctly on re-installation (typo in the re-install script)).

Wow you are right. I wonder why they have removed it.....? I dont know if you are aware of it but they changed the layout of the last couple of corners on the track last year and ESCI made an update for the track.

I really think we should use it cause I noticed that the track is looking the same this year.

Download it HERE if you dont have it.

wel be aware for this track

I think i know why its dissapeared, i know from some guys that the track wasnt working properly in there game. When you drove over the part where the new 3 corners started, an invisible wall appears where your car stucks. I do have the track here to and i run it with no problems, and yes i think we should use this one cause its much more real as it is now in the stock game.

Only test it careful bilbo some might can get problems with it.

The France 2003 file above is actually just textures for the "stock" 2002 track. It does NOT seem to be for the RH2003 track. If you want to use the 2002+ESCI track in the NAR mod (instead of RH2003), it's very easy for me to change.

Also, I don't see how this could cause problems with invisible walls since it contains only graphic files...

It's your call, Killa.

I think we should use it yes as long as it worls for everyone. I remember one time at France when we used the original track that someone smashed into the wall and came out on a whole other place of the track.....that was cool, ehe.....I really hope it wont happen again though.

What do you mean by RH2003 track? Isnt RH2003 only car updates?

Lets use it cause it is a big change from the original track. The last couple of corners are completely diffrent.

My mistake. Since I have never run one without the other, I often mistake the Tantra tracks as an inclusive part of the RH2003 mod. Sorry.

I will update TP3 later this week so that it "feeds" itself from the 2002_MagnyCours folder (where the ESCI pack installs) instead of the RH2003 one. It will be re-installation friendly, so people should still install the current TP3 to practice for the USA race.

I'm having the problem dutch mentioned with the france track, i get to the turn just aster the second fast chicane, and bam, i hit a wall, and i have deleted the magny cours hat file, also deleted the NAR france circuit, and reinstalled the track pack, and no change, still hitting a wall, plus the track just disappears, i see strange colors at that point
attatched is a pic of what i'm getting, hope i can figure this out before the race !!!

My guess is that the stock 2002 track itself is buggy and all mods using that track will inherit the bugs.

Anyone wanna test the "official" EA France 2002 and confirm?

I've always had a problem in F1C if I managed to flip over a wall (at any track) where you're not supposed to go, I would then "endlessly fall through the sky" before getting DQ for going "wrong way". I don't think there's any thing we can do about that. It doesn't seem like the same bug as Steve though...

I will try to look at the problem. How I hate this game when it does not want to "cooperate"... :x

actually, i think i installed a 2003 update to france a while back, but not sure who made it, maybe it wasn't the esci one, could that cause this problem?

Absolutely. If it's anything other than texture files (bmp, tga), there's a danger that it could interfere with the NAR mod. It could also possibly generate mismatches with a NAR server that doesn't have your other mod installed too.

I have tried to reproduce your problem on 2 different installations (one "upgraded" RH2003 from 1.2 to 1.3 and the fixes and the other a "direct" basic RH2003 1.3 install). I tried zigzagging around the whole track, tried running on either edges all around the track but I can't hit your invisible wall...

Could I ask you to try a "clean" install? (backup your current game before if you're not familiar with doing multiple F1C installations). I would REALLY like this to be an "external mod" problem...

Anyone else tried the France track (either with sucess or not)?
