Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
Just read it in french, i will resume best : New rule limit the diffuser in back to a maximum of size. But 3 team find a way to use the chassis as a prolongation of that diffuser to make is MORE bigger than the rule, but seem that a faillure in rule could alows it. If their car are judge Ok to race at Australia checkpoint, RedBull will drop a protest against Toyota, Branw and Williams.

Re: Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
The FIA actually said they are surprised no other teams had copied the design of the Brawn GP diffuser.
They(FIA) knew there was a loophole just who was smart enough to find it I guess.

Re: Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
Another negative side effect changing rules constantly,.. gosh i remember some ilegal floorplates some year ago,... mass dampers in the nose,... what more
If thats the trick to be fast then i realy hope BGP will kick everyone a.. and win the first GP.

FIA rejected BMW protest against the car that use the chassis as a extention of the diffuser. FIA will meet on April 14th to discuss about that for a final decision.

Hello
Well I might be wrong here in the way I am thinking.
But I wish these guys would quit crying and get on with it.
Get the diffuser remade and get back to racing.
If BMW and the others would had thought of this and Brawn had not had this diffuser it would have been a whole different story.
and now they are crying about the extra length of the rear wing.
MHO Shut up and get to racing.

It's not that easy. Ferrari are now forced to build a completely new car to fit the diffuser because the KERS would've gotten in the way. Spending 30 million € on building a new car just because a diffuser swap isn't exactly fun. I think in a way Ferrari can be happy now as if they're lucky they will get a better car this year with the diffuser change and still manage to catch up as it's early in the season. Let's see how fast they progress in Spain.Hitman wrote:Hello

There has to be another problem other then just the diffuser (For Ferrari BMW and others) I say this because Vettle and Weber in Red Bull are doing very well with out the Diffuser. and this might be (And I am not sure) becuase they are using the longer rear wing side plates.
As for building a whole car I thought the diffuser was the the bottom plate/chassis of the car so they won't build a whole new car just the bottom chassis and all the other parts bolt on.
The kers (In Ferrari if up front of the driver so that should not hinder anything or much at all.
Besides Ferrari have money to spare
It will help the economy

Re: Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
Its a bit more complicated then you think, its not like putting a new diffuser underneat it wil fix the problems for some teams. They need to rebuild the complete rear end with engine cover and side in order to let it to work.
Also the only reasons teams are protesting it is just to get it it to the court of appeal because they gonna need to decided on what happen. So when the FIA is gonna say that the diffusers are illegal those results can still be changed. If the teams didnt protested it couldnt be changed anymore. I know i find it pretty pathetic, there a few teams that did their homework and got out with a advantage due to the rule changes. If mclaren and ferrari would have had it nobody would have complained.
Anyway i dont see it happen that 3 teams are going to be exluded from the results of first 2 races so yes, i think that FIA will clear things up and allow it. Atleast thats what i hope, also its for sure that the other teams have enough space to improve during the year.

Re: Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
Ferrari in past had a floor that was moving and they were able to take advantage of a gap in rule. Renault with the damper in front wing, Ferrari with gas air in tire instead of normal air, and so... Now its Branw-Toyota and Williams that took advantage of rule. That is part of life when thing are always changing. We cant blame teams, we only can shit on FIA to change things eatch minutes they can. This open the way to mistake and frustration...
FIA may start to not be taken seriously if they continue to make so mutch bad decision. Like the one to start a GP at end of afternoon and putting driver in dagerous position facing the sun. Making more money from TV at the disavantage of drivers security... It is already not easy for us normal driver in traffic facing the sun at 50-100km/h, now imagine that at +300km/h ? And dont think to put your hand up to block the sun, your going at 300!!!

Re: Faillure in new F1 rule? RedBull protest
I don't know if this would affect making a NEW diffuser but how would they know if it will work properly if ALL on track and wind tunnel testing has been banned during the season.
Would a simulator work in this situation to get proper data??
