New NAR qualifying format 07

Post by Ruben Miranda »

Hello All
NAR has changed the qual format to Group qualifiying.
In a effort to make it more exciting and quicker we came up with the following format.

If you do not understand it or have any questions please post and ask them now.

Below is the structure of the new Q format.

NAR new Qualifying Format
Here are the basics and the rules to the new format

5-minute sessions 3 laps- 1 out lap 1 hot lap 1 in lap (Hit the ESC key after your hot lap)
3 to 4 groups
5 drivers per group

Teams will be grouped via points standing prior to Sundays race
Admins will also be listing the groups via chat 2 to 5 min before qualifying time.
Example of Grouping
Group A, Flow, Hitman, Carrera, Juan, Brad
Group B, SteveB, Steve, Xzwins, Bilbo, Mercury
In this example group B would go out first according to points.
If more then 3 drivers are missing from a group the remaining drivers will be moved
Up in the there corresponding group.

Admins will never be in the same grouping as one needs to watch and handle things

The 5 minute session will be started and stopped by the Admins
Using GA-start or GA-stop
During the 5 minutes you can go out at anytime to do your qual time.
If you fail to do so you will start from the back of the grid.
At the end of the 5 min session you will need to get off the track.
If you have already started your hotlap you will be allowed to finish it.
Do not attempt to do a hotlap after the session is over penalties will be applied.

Flag rules apply
You have 3 seconds to move over under a blue flag

If at anytime you spin leave track with no damage you can reenter the track
And complete your lap time but do so cleanly not to impair the on coming traffic.
If at any time you crash and receive significant damage you will abort said lap and you start from the back of grid

If you are on a hotlap and gain on another driver also on a hotlap.
This will be deemed poor strategy on your part and no penalties will be awarded or given.

Penalties
No time last on grid

Intentional slowing or pushing or cutting other drivers off will be penalized.

Penalties can be from disqualifying of your Q-time and or 2 to 10 seconds at the next race.

Intentional actions such as
Stopping on the track, Taking out track markers, Hitting another driver in the act of vengeance will lead to race or races DQ or full season DQ.

A hint
As I or others come with them I will add them
Of course first might be best clean air and track or last But here you take a chance at not getting your lap in.

If you find yourself going out right behind someone back of a few seconds and give yourself and the other some lead way.

This is going to be AMAZING!!!!
I guess the admins will start and stop the group sessions via chat.

My question is what if a driver has thier CHAT WINDOW set to OFF?

In your PLR file you are able to turn off your chat window so you don't see any chatting while you are out on track.

I think you should also state that ALL DRIVERS have to enable thier chat window so they will know when the session has been stopped for thier group to avoid anyone staying on track when the next group is waiting to go out.

Just a suggestion. :)

That is the responsability of driver to put it on.

Admin or other can use the cam neer pit line to watch any driver that may go overtime of session.

I hate to say this since I was the one who said the old format was boring but this seems unnecessarily complicated since we still only get 1 hot lap. I envisioned something more like a 15 minute session were everyone would get 3-4 hot laps in. But I don't make the rules, just felt I should at least state my thoughts on it.

Well aaron in simple word, the real F1 qualif session is complicated in this game to sent all 22 car for 15+15+15 all at same time. Blocking complaint and so. Also, 1 hot lap for 22 drivers brings us on qualif session of 35 to 45 minutes, with is boring for alot.

New format is still an 1 warmup lap + 1 hot lap, then esc. The difference is that 4 groups of 5 drivers and have a max of 5 minutes to do it. This means that the max time of any qualif is 20minutes + maybe 1 minutes between session, i dont know.

I think admin its not bad once we will get use to it, and the qualif session will be half of supose. Euro are 22 drivers, and few on waiting list, unbeleivable... Na, will probably have around 3 group, 15 minutes qualif.

I think its a good decision. Its never said that admin may upgrade or change if its realy bad after few test, even FIA are having hard time in past about qualif session, and its still getting some bad comment.

Not really if you think about it is not more complicated then our old format.

If you know your group and pay attention to when you get released thats it.

The old way you had to know who goes before you the big difference here.

I hope it is more exciting and we are not falling a sleep waiting for our turn.
and as Flow pointed out it will be much faster.

I agree, I think this qualy format is going to be exciting to say the least. :)

Not only will you have 5 minutes to do your laps but timing yourself out of the garage to hopefully have a clear run....WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

BRING IT ONNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Nothing wrong with trying to spice things up a bit. :)

WELL DONE Admins :)

This format seems all fine to me, with these groups you can save some more time and you still have the thrill of the "one lap it has to happen no mistake allowed"

And you still have half of real F1, the chalenge of managing trafic on track to make shure there's enough space in front and in back.
