A RULE suggestion on Race restart

Post by Flow »

Hi all, i woud like to bring a suggestion on race restart request. Since i was involve in a wrong grid place by the computer, and seem that some driver encountered those problem in past. Also we try to manage a respectfull start, trying to keep enough space between driver, with no contact. Since its almost impossible, those car accident ruined our race and leave us 3-4 driver of 5-6...

So i woud like to bring this rule, that need to be discuss and final aprouve by the boss.

My suggestion goes like this:

RACE RESTART REQUEST
Allow driver, involved in a accident cause by another driver, to ask a race restart.

SPECIFICATION
Number of lap valid for that rule : 1 lap
Number of restart request by a driver : maximum of 1 request/driver
Number of restart alowed for same race : maximum of 2 request/per race

That rule is OFF as soon as you finish the 1st lap, aplyable for eatch driver. As soon the last driver pass the finish/start line, none can aks a request.

CONDITION
A driver that ask a restart, must restart at end of grid. That same driver MUST be more than genlteman with driver in front, du to his LUCK to have a second chance...

Request can only be ask by driver's that are involved in a 2 car crash or an accident cause by another driver.

NO GOOD REASON TO ASK A REQUEST
A driver that crash alone for no good reason, no other diver involved CANT ask a request.

K, this is only suggestion, but after asking some driver, it seem that they like the idea. So is any have comment, and then Cart will take the final decision. Maybe Cart can poll a vote on it, after it will be clearly define as is up or with some change. (sorry, remember im french, so sentence may seem bizarre.)

Points would be taken from the restarted race (the 2nd or 3rd actual race start), if the driver managed to finish THAT race in the points. The restart HAS to be asked for in L1 or L2 at worst and the server admin would act on it immediately and start a new race, which would then become THE official race. Not sure if it is clearer now or not...

K, i take off that penality section, yes if we restart, then its new race, so no penality aplyable. So i took it off from up.

Mag you seem little frustrated about that 90% rules... did you heard of the 90% before. Its not the 1st time a driver is mad about it. But hey all rule that are not writen on web site are same as real F1. Maybe that 90% rule shoud be add up clearly in web site, so no confusion or mad driver then in future.

Hello
I understand the asking for restart ifin a accident at turn one. How will you determun whos fault the acc was.
In order to find out witch driver will be getting penalized and be put at the back of the grid on the restart.

Also are you saying that if the restart request is made becuase of a grid position problem we will also be penalized and be put at the back of the grid.
I kinda have a problem with this part since we as drivers have no controll over what the Comp/Server is going to do.

I do not feel there should be a penilty for a restart request if the grid position is wrong. But it should be avaliable to requset a restart.
I would say that only 2 restarts per race can be asked for.

As for the first turn acccindent restart request
That acccindent should be reviewd in the replay and then the penalty should be placed either by a removing points or by grid positions at the next race.
All it would take is before to have someone leave record that race and save it before the race restart. then it can be viewed and apropriet action can be taken.

Yes, but it skip the replay option to make it simple to use, unless its getting complicated and this rule is only to alow 5 driver or less to make a good start, to help having a more full race fun.

As i was in wrong position, i was happy to have a restart, and since no one can verify, i coud accept a last grid line. Rememeber that some driver are able to start end and finish 1st... and its better to have a second chance than none.

A rule would be nice but it seems a little too complicated. It seems some people try to make up a ton of positions at the first corner when in reality it's just not needed at all in our league. If you that fast people will let you go anyway. I just wish some would use common sense sometimes. Although I would admit non of us are immune to the possibility of running in the back of someone. We've all probably done it at least once. I guess it's a just the way racing is. Ok that's enough I am on vacation after all. Have a better USGP than the real F1 :D

I make sure I'm heard when I disagree with something/someone, not when I agree... So silence on my part generally means either that I agree or that I'm too p!ssed off and prefer not to say anything (for the moment)...

Given the favorable pre-race (or was it only practice?) discussions we had on this subject, I don't have much to add. I think it's a good idea but I also have no problems continuing like it was before, so (a bit unusually, I admit) I have not really paid much attention about the formulation or text of this rule (if it becomes one). I just would have liked to have that rule at Australia at the beginning of the season...

So we coud only apply that rules for end of season after US GP...

So we wont affect the 1st part of season... We coud have it only for next season but it seem that we will be able to have a full grid for next season... if rfactor give us fun for our money...

that rule was intended to be applyed for race under 5 driver, unless its like in real life, shit happend also... but with 5 drivers, its sad to lose 1 or 2 and finisht the race with 3 driver....

I am still not really sure if the rule is for ALL NAR or only for NA ... just a bit confused in this hehe.

ok let me tell you:

you worked out an good idea for a new rule. you know the dudes would accept a new rule thats not the matter, cuz it doesnt look as senseless as 107 % rule for example (FOR THIS RULE YOU WOULD HEAR MY OPINION MORE FAST THAN YOU DID THE POST ABOUT ... BE SURE !!!).

in fact just practice the rule can say if it makes sense or not. there for I think is a championship that has not been started with a full grid where everyone has done the races better fore than a season that will start with a full grid (and it looks like that) propably with a new game where still has to be waited for and testings to be done with to see if it maybe will be possible to start as 1 NAR and not NA1 NA2 and EURO.

I'd say this season is the time to test, get experience and do the discussions about the rules the next GOOD season has to be run under.

even I am pretty sure you can not avoid for the future to do the right decisions again depending on things that happen. I know it is hard to find the right way between racing hard under rules and the moments things have to be discuss again. but the official NAR rules are the one a race has to be run under and everyone has to accept it even allways something can happen a dude does not agree in that moment with.

but I know NAR races are fair and they will be fair in the future because you can discuss and talk about the rules here and if a rule would show that it makes no sense it would be changed again.

in EURO races we talked about restarts for a few times (never had to practice them :D) but we made allready sure how to handle it if something happens. the days we do our races under that rule we allways make sure before race how it is exactly for this race and that everyone knows about how to handle it.

this is why I was a bit confused now because I was not sure if you want to do a hole NAR test about this rule in the way you posted it now, or if it is an official rule now, which I would simply take for a rule.

you can only say if you like something if you try it ;)

... have fun!

Meo in simple word :

If an accident happend between 2 drivers or cause by a bad move from a driver on the 1st lap, or software problem on grid, you can esc and ask a restart. Youl be place at end of grid for that. Its good for lap 1 only.

1 request by driver by race and a max of 2 per race, unless we will never race.

aplyable only if we are less than 5 drivers in race.

OR

Just keep as it was before.

Is the choice simple. If we alow restart once in a whil, we need to restrict that thing. That way you will never get frustrated or jalous driver, things are clear.[/b]
