I did a few recon laps tonight (first time ever at this track), I just touched the 14s but feel like there's more to get from both the driver and the car... Another interesting track!

1.11.8 full fuel :)

keep overheating the rear left though, the laptimes drop away really bad after 4-5 laps

 Hmmm Left rear waisted no time in getting HOT ... didnt even matter that i stayed off runoff areas
is this right ? Tire change = same Spring rate = same ARBars =same no way to adjust this i guess OK
So now what ? ............lol

Talent at keeping the car on the track in non-optimal situations or extra pit stops...

I am still puzzled as to why we're doing the extra tire wear and fuel consumption, since we're doing pretty long races.....

Personally, I wasn't familiar with the FIA GT1 series (coverage of it is inexistent around here) and I was under the impression that it was an "endurance" series (as in hundreds of laps, multi-hours (when not 24h) races). Our 25- or 50-laps races are relatively short for "endurance" races so 4X was fine with me. A quick look at the GT1 rules shows that (unless I'm mistaken) their race are actually 60 minutes though.

In that light, I'd join the crowd and suggest we revert to 1X tyre wear and 1X fuel usage (maybe 2X fuel since they do have mandatory pit stops IRL). Maybe make the events always 60 minutes too and stop adjusting the laps for each track.

Comments, objections?

Sounds Good 2 me .

noooo!

hehe, my 2 cent would be

1. i know ive not participated in any races, but i really like the idea of accelerated wear and fuel
2. pit stops are fun, id like to keep it the way it is
3. 60 min feels waaay to long... in that case maby 2x30 ?

I fail to see the point of making some things harder than it is IRL unless it is to compensate some other things that could be easier than RL. Sure, 4X tyre wear is a fun challenge but the goal of these events is to attract drivers, not rebuke them. If I had known a bit more about the GT1 series, I'd have challenged the setting earlier. Sorry for waking up late to this but I've been busier than my usal busy-ness (sp?) since last May and couldn't be bothered to do much more than try to attend the events.

As for having double-races, if you crash in the first laps of the first 5-drivers race, are you really going to wait around 25 minutes or so for the other race? We barely have enough drivers to make it worth having a single race (and complete it), I'm pretty sure that having two races would be counter-productive given the current grid-size if the second race has to be cancelled because some driver(s) have left during the 1st race. It would be different if we had a bigger grid but we don't...

That said, I suggested 60 minutes because that's both the real GT1 race duration and close to what the original proposition of 50 laps for our events was meant to be. 60 minutes is already quite shorter than our usual 100%-length F1 races but if there is agreement for a single 45 or 30 minutes race instead, then that can be done. For example, we could do 30 minutes, 2X tyre wear (to compensate the half-duration), 3X or 4X fuel usage (to force pitstops)?

I appreciate the Admins taking time to ask for input ,comments , opinions .
I agree that either 50/60 min race is good 4 me.
But i think anything above 2x wear is frustrating to deal with .

Thanks again NAR for the servers

I had a good practice with Steve tonight, made it to the low 13s on full fuel and new shoes.

I set the server to some compromise settings but these can be discussed here (preferably) or at racetime with those drivers who are actually going to race: 2X fuel usage, 2X tyre wear, 45 minutes race, 20 minutes qualy (no lap limit), 5 minutes warmup (if needed).

I will most likely miss this event given that the NASCAR Napa 200 will not be finished before our race start. This is likely the last NASCAR event in Montreal due to lack of public financing and we exceptionally have a lot of local boys (even a local gal!) participating, including two locking the first line on the grid (Jacques Villeneuve got the pole in-extremis in front of Alex Tagliani (of CART/Indycar fame)). Can't really not watch this, especially since there has been a lot of action in all past races here...

The server is set as mentionned above since nobody complained. The admin password is "nar" if you want to change things.

Good luck to everyone and see you at Brands Hatch (long) in 2 weeks.
