Two problems I have with mod

Post by Dan Rasmusson »

Hey,

been testing some online today, (got a setup from MrG :) Thanks.

Anyway,

1# is there any way to change the language from Hungarian to English?

2# I have an error while driving on your server. I keep getting "synchronized" and then it moves me back in time (like 200 ms). Any setting that's wrong that I should change?

Thanks, the other problem is still there though, now it's in English.

It keeps saying Synchronizing Game (-157 ms) etc. every ten seconds making it very hard to race online.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Best wishes,
Dan.

The synchronizing message is a symptom of lag. If you're the only one receiving it, then the problem is on your end. If not, then it could be on the server itself or anywhere on the network between the server (Montreal, Canada) and you.

If it's on your end, there are a few things you can do:
  • Make sure you have no software using the CPU/using your connection (antivirus, P2P, auto-updates, etc.)
  • Use a wired connection to your router (wireless adds latency even in the best case, often a lot if you have *ANY* interference (even worse if it's intermittent)). This is not hearsay, it has been experimented more than once in NAR.
  • Switch to an ISP with better peering (if the problem is constant) or no throttling (many throttling ISPs confuse games with P2P because of the upload)
  • Live a better life so that the Internet gods don't want to make you suffer
If it's not on your end, the only thing you can do is complain so I know to check or restart the server or you can move closer to Canada in the hope that you get a better connection to the server.
