When creating a track there are walls (invisable in game) made at certain sections of a track or all around the perimeter of the track(depends on the creator) these will be the corridors of the track which (in conjunction with the AIW file) tells the game the LEGAL (driveable) and ILLEGAL (NON-DRIVEABLE) areas of the circuit. The corridors will stop at these walls (can be removed when track is completed) so when racing and you cross these areas the game knows your cutting that section of the track and gives you a penalty. With EA F1 2002 the penalty was the lap was not counted with rFactor it gives a more realistic penalty as we know.
