ABU DAHBI

Post by SteveB »

Hi Guys,

Here is the link for the ABU DAHBI circuit I found. (use the link in the OFFICIAL TRACKS thread)
I haven't tested it fully yet but it is supposed to be race ready according to the posts I've read.

This isn't my version, unfortunately mine won't be ready until next season.

I tried it today. I didn't have any high expectations, but I gotta say that it's good. It's not the most beautiful track I've seen but you can't ask for that when it is released as fast as this one. I think the racing will be great here. Many chicanes and 90-degree corners. Just have to learn the layout now hehe.

Cool pit exit also!

It's my fault. I downloaded the track last week and that's what I installed on my server but the track has since been updated (to v1.01) and that's what people downloading this week are getting and why there are mismatches.

I'm updating the server to v1.01 as I write this, sorry for the inconvenience... :(

i must say, the layout feels weird especially that insanely fast old-imola style chicane....dont think its supposed to be that way. ive driven another version a long time ago, which felt more accurate....on the downside, the pit exit was wrong on that one. Maby the update has fixed the turn in question, im yet to download it and try so...anyway, the track is the same for everyone so i guess we just have to get on with it :)

What I'd like to know is who thought that putting a chicane so close to a hairpin would make things more interesting? I could do without the other chicanes too, I find that it's a relatively "old" and easy device to use so abundantly on a new 2009 design and shows a lack of imagination from the designers, IMHO...

No comments on the downloaded track as I can't really tell what's real or not. Some walls desperately need some texture though (pit exit feels weird until you pass under the bridge) but I realize this is a WIP...

Lack of accuracy from the designers of the rF track I think. I would be very suprised if the track IRL has those Monza-style chicanes. I think the chicanes in the other version of this track are more accurate, where they are more stretched kinda. The chicanes in this track is like you say, and old solution of getting the speed down at the classic tracks.

Thanks G

I will move the waypoints and generate a NEW race groove, doing this will fix that issue.
Then I will upload a V2 but it will only be for NAR to use unless I get permission from the creator
which I will try to do.

when your on it can you try and look at that fast chicane, it would be the frist complex->the first hard braking chicane->weird chicane. Maby it can be sorted? or at lest turned into something that will force us to brake, jumping that one in 6th gear feels dangerous and wrong for the race :) hehe, WVIP request

Well Yas Marina in real has just to be finished so IMO any game version is not accurate yet. Same with Singapore actualy, if you compare it with a real lap you will notice how far it actualy is off yet, and i mean litterly every corner isnt right.

Anyway we have a track to race on and i dont realy care how accurate it is, its a new track to race on so im more then happy with it. Didnt tried this version yet, but well its a Tilke track so you know what to expect from it, that shouldnt be a big suprise i guess.

The track looks so boring, like it has no character... Blue run-off areas all over the place, making it look like Paul Ricard... Thank god for places like Suzuka, Spa, Monaco...
